Question about KitchenAid Superba Architect KSCS25INSS Side by Side Refrigerator
1. the ice cube tray does not fill with water (remains dry) despite
2. on/off switch is in the left (on) position
3. the door water dispenser dispenses water at a normal flow.
4. the ice cube storage bin has been pressed down after cleaning and appears to click into place
5. The freezer temperature indicates 0 deg F.
Water flow is governed by a solenoid valve which is controlled by a timer that sets the cycle for all of the icemaker functions. The timer is controlled in turn by the switch that is actuated when the bin is full.
One of these three is malfunctioning and to determine which is at fault will require the removal of the icemaker mechanism (to check the switch) and possibly sheet metal on the back of the fridge.
You will also need a multimeter of some kind to check for switch operation and continuity of the solenoid coil. Adequate instruments can cost as little as $3 and in any case under $20, have digital displays and are normally accompanied by some instructions in Chinglish which are somtimes pretty entertaining.
