Handling such equipments is not a problem for me. I am Hasselblad factory technician, repairing cameras since 30 years. I have opened this camera for the first time, and do not expect such a camera to come in future. Besides, the local Sony distributors here in Dubai, U.A.E. do not have a trained technician to handle this camera, so they will not help, rather would want to send the camera to the principal. I would love to solve this problem if someone would help out!

Re: Vibrating when switched ON
If you are in Dubai, you can contact Sony Gulf as its regional headquarter of Sony middle east region. As I mentioned my previous reply, http://www.fixya.com/support/t1270383-vibrating_when_switched get help of service manual to rectify the problem in camera.

You have supplied almost double voltage to camera and in my opinion, it damaged the on-board few power supply parts like regulator IC etc. You should contact to nearest Sony Service Center as they service Minolta too. Here is Minolta customer notification for details.
Here's where you can download a brochure describing your camera. This is also the website where you can download the owner's manual but you have to register with your e-mail address.
the sstepper motor of the focus assembly has slipped out of its track. that motor is a very powerful one which can cause the vibration.
once u change the mode to take the picture the motor should run in both direction to make some calibration.
you cannot disable it. in the preview mode the optical assembly returns to it closed position and then the motor is switched off.
since it is a cybershot you need to be very careful in handling the camera if you have any plan to open it. it is recommended to be taken to the nearest service centre. any way the wheels might need replacement
Do you have any samples you can post? Does it happen with the self timer on a tripod? This is probably caused by your hand being in the way of the flash. Post some samples and we can get a better idea of whats happening. =)
The "E18" error code indicates an error that involves the lens unit or lens cover. Or it may appear if you apply pressure to the area surrounding the lens while handling the camera.
Remove and reinsert the batteries to see if the error code will reset. Generally speaking, there is nothing you can do to correct the problem other than to send the camera to the appropriate factory service center for correction of the error.
