Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Had to move scanner (HP Scanjet 4300C) while replacing room carpet. When reconnected, the scanner works as before, except the scaned image is black with no image. Did I break it, seems moving around harmed something in the scanner.

Looks like something happened to the CCD when the scanner was moved. The CCD is what captures the image and it's not user servicable. Got to call HP for service.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

HP Solution Center does not recognize the scanner anymore... We are operating on a Windows 7 system... the drivers had to be downloaded from the internet because the cd that came with the printer was for...

I had the same problem and solved it. I was using HP Solution Centre to run my HP Scanjet 5590 on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit without problems. Then I ran the scanner using Windows Fax and Scan, but didn't like it, so went back to HP Solution Centre - whereupon the scanner was not recognised.
After hours of reinstalling software etc etc, without success, I suddenly noticed four device icons on the left hand side of HP Solution Centre. These were labelled (when hovered over with the mouse) hp scanjet 5590, hp scanjet 5590 #2, hp scanjet 5590 #3, hp scanjet 5590 #4. Only the top icon was active, but when I clicked on any of the four it moved to the top.
Clicking on hp scanjet 5590 #2 gave me a working installation once more - problem solved. No doubt the multiple icons arose from my desperate attempts to try different USB ports.

HP L7780 Scanned images are all black

i think your batch's thickness is high. so that when you are keeping your batch on the scanner then your cover will be not covering properly. so that the external light will be passing through the gap between scanner and cover. so that your scanning is showing black. if you want to scan your batch, then you have to cover by plane paper around your batch on the scanner. otherwise you try to protect out side light on the scanner glass. now you can get proper scaning.

I have an HP 4570c Scanjet that suddenly started scanning images distored with a blue yellow tint and streaks running through the page. I have tried all the "homing" fixes (shut down everything,...

This is driving me nuts, too on my HP d135 multifunction. I hate to give up a working (albeit old) printer/copier/fax because the color scanning goes, but I haven't room for a separate scanner.

Would love to know the fix for this.
