Question about Fuji FinePix A400 Digital Camera
The cord came out just before downloading and the card is uninitialized. The directions say re-initialize -- great - how? No tab on left side of card - just a notch.
OK There are 3 problems that a company like Fuji should have avoided:
1. Directing one to "re-initialize" the chip and not providing any directions for doing so.
2. Calling it "initializing" in the menu and "formatting" in the camera menu.
3. Building a camera that blitzes the chip when the USB cord is accidentaly disconnected without following the ritual.
The FIX: Turn the camera on. > Switch from the red camera icon to the green arrow icon on the ring around the shutter button. > Press the "menu/OK" button. > Under the "Erase" menu, scroll up to "Format." Press "Menu/OK" button. > Re-format (aka "re-initialize') the chip and lose all images stored on it. Whoppeee!
