Wher and what ethernet card do I buy?

I have a Gateway Performance 800 and I would like to try to install an internet card so I can get high speed. I just don't know which one to buy.
I don't know much about this stuff. If someone could tell me where and which card to buy I would appreciate it.
Thank you
Jean

I trierd to lok up you computer at the Gateway website but lacked the model number in order to see it it had an ethernet car alread installed on the mother board. If you done;l have one then you purchase any  current brand PCI  Gb ether net card. After that is installed, then contact either the phone company or the cable company for the modem and subscription service they will provide. If you have it on you computer already,it wil be on the back a little bigger hole than you present phone cord goes into. Additionally if it is there, and you can see from the manual available from the website for your model, the it will have to be turned on in the BIOS, whos instruction you wil also find in the manual. I hope I helped and not caused you additional confusion.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Network card disappeared overnite

Before adding any ethernet card, try to restore your system by using system restore option available with windows to a date on which your system was perfectly working. If the your system works fine after that, then it is quite likely to have your system infected by malicious software or anti virus. Scan your system for virus. If the ethernet is not working then add a new card after disabling the on-board network card in the CMOS setup.

What Ethernet card should I buy for Dimension 4300?

Depending on the speed of your internet connection you could get either a fast ethernet card or a gigabit card. I would recommend the latter since that is the direction technology is moving. The brand shouldn't make too big of a difference, I'd go with a card that had fairly good reviews. You can look for one on Amazon or NewEgg. Hope that helps.

I think my network card is bad. My internet / email isn't working on my desktop (although it works fine on my laptop). And the computer is not recognizing anything when I type ipconfig. So, i think i need...

since the network card is built onto the motherboard reinstalling the driver would be the best first option.

HERE is the link to the driver.
Broadcom827.exe - Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet driver Version: 8.27.1.0
Supports: Windows XP
Note: This is the Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet driver for use with the Big Lake, Cortez, and Putton Bay motherboards in Windows XP.

I would try that first.

click connect to
show all connections
look to see if lan or high speed internet shows connection.
If enabled and not working look on back of computer to see green light from ethernet plug.
if no green light try different ethernet cable, if that doesn't help replace ethernet card less than $20

Gateway 510 X Desktop

card or usb connector will both work. once you have installed the router software, you'll need to install the card software as well. the usb may also have software, but i don't have one so i'm not positive, but it's highly like;y in order to secure the network.
this should help guide you.

on the back of the pc there should be a "LAN" (ethernet) port, if there is not you need to go and buy a PCI ethernet lan card and install it in the pc

Gateway GM 5084 Ethernet

Are the drivers installed? Look in your device manager for the drivers. You might need a new Ethernet card. Also check in the BIOS to see if it is turned on. Try hitting the delete key or one of the F keys when it starts to get to the BIOS.
