MY SONY XR-450 FACEPLATE DISPLAY DOEN'T LIGHT UP. THE "SOURCE" LED IS LIT GREEN AND ALL FUNCTIONS SEEM TO WORK, BUT THE "CHANNEL DISPLAY" DOESN'T LIGHT UP. I'VE TAKEN IT OFF AND CLEANED THE CONTACTS ON BOTH HALVES REPEATEDLY WITH NO LUCK.

My faceplate did the same thing a few days ago. I noticed it was out one cold morning, but later came on for the day. The next day it went out and will not come back. Green LED is on and all functions work.

Whenever we get our truck serviced, the cd player to our sony xr-c8220 won't work. It say's "goodbye" and to push reset. We tried that and it still won't work.

The CD player is malfuntioning. Either the wiring is incorrect (A short, etc.) or just a heat problem. Good Luck to ya!

Need to get the security code for Kenwood KDC-608OR

ok I just found this info online and they say it came from the service manual for that stereo so I hope it helps:

You will need a Kenwood RC-410 remote control. This remote works on KDC-519, KDC-X859, KDC-319, KDC-4019, KDC-MP919, KDC-X759, KDC-419, KDC-X459, KDC-MPV619, KDC-MPV7019, KDC-2022, KDC-2022V, KRC-435, KRC-535 and KDC-X959

To reset the code do the following:

1) Turn on the car.
2) The faceplate rotates out and the CODE - - - - prompt appears.
3) Press >>' and Auto keys simultaneously on the faceplate and hold for 4 seconds. (If the faceplate rotates back into the console push on the upper left top edge of the faceplate and it will flip back around. Press the Eject button and then try it again.)
4) The screen will still say CODE, but the - - - - will disappear! When this happens press the 5 key on the remote twice and it enters a K on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
5) Press the 2 key on the remote three times and it enters a C on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
6) Press the 2 key on the remote once and it enters an A on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
7) Press the 7 key on the remote twice and it enters an R on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
8) The radio goes into All Off mode and you are set! Hit the SRC button on the faceplate to select CD, Radio, etc.

I have a pioneer KEH-P4100RDS head unit which the display has gone dim on ( seemed to half go out then a day or so later go fully out ), everything else works so was wondering if it is possible to replace...

Another issue with detachable face units is the spring on the latch gets weak over time and the contacts will not be 100% reliable. Try cleaning the contacts between the unit and the faceplate and also make sure there is not debris in any of the latching mechanisms that could be causing the face to not sit totally flush on the receiver. By the way, cassette tapes...really?

Wiring color code for xr-c5100

I am about to sell one on eBay - here are the connections from the installation paperwork and connector that I have:

Top row, left to right:
White - Front Left (+)
Green - Rear Left (+)
Purple - Rear Right (+)
Gray - Front Right (+)
Blue/White strip - AMP REMOTE (Max 0.3A)
Blue - ANT REM (Power Antennta Remote) (12V, Max 0.1A)
Red - Power (Accessory)
Black - Ground

Bottom Row, left ot right
White/Black - Front Left (-)
Green - Rear Left (-)
Purple - Rear Right (-)
Gray - Front Right (-)
BLANK
BLANK
BLANK
Yellow - Power (Battery)

One of the BLANKs is for the "Light Blue - ATT (attenuation for car phone)", but it is unclear which one. This wire is not on my connection block...

The circular BUS line to the right of the terminal block is apparently for linking to a CD/MD unit (cable supplied with unit)

The Blue 3.5mm socket is for the RM-X45 Rotary Commander (which attaches to the indicator lever)

Important notes:
If there is no ACC power line in the car, do not connect the red lead.
Ensure the power select switch on the bottom of the unit is in the B position, then press the RESET button (behind the faceplate).
This means that the display will be off when the unit is not in use - avoiding a flat battery risk.
(Posn A is for normal use, with red line on ACC)

The RESET buttom should be pressed after installation, before initial use.

Hope this helps.
