Picture bowing I have a Mitsu rear projection model WS-65807. About a 2 weeks ago the picture would be bowed for a few minutes and then go normal. It continued to take longer to staighten up untill now it stays bowed all the time. Reading through a few posts it seems to be a common problem that can be readily fixed. Can you pinpoint this from my description and possibly direct me as to where I can find parts and any info regarding installation. I would like to repair this myself if possible. Thanks in advance

I understand and can resolder these joints as recommended. I have the back of the TV off and am not sure what I am looking for. Each of the 3 tubes has a board attached, are these the conversion boards? The only pins I can see to resolder are two pins that directly attach to the tube comming from these boards. Is this the location you recommend for the repair?

If you know basic electronics and have little experience of solder work then you can fix this TV as your TV has cold solder joints in convergence out board.
You need to resold these joints / pins of IC
Thank you.

    No, Its not convergence board.
Convergence ICs would mounted on heat sink on main board of TV and ICs number would starts with letter STK-

There is a convergence problem, the convergence ICs on the convergence board are starting to fail.

You need to have the convergence IC tested, either replace the ICs or the board.

The best thing is always calling for repair.

If you want to do it yourself buy the service manual.

Perform a service setup procedure first, then test the convergence ICs.

You can replace the board , that is expensive, or the ICs that are about $8 each.

You can find parts and service manual at Vance Baldwin Electronics or partstore
    give them a call.

See here explained how to replace the ICs

the next time it is not working go into the customer menu with remote and call up the convergence grid and look---there---if convergence is way off and or comes and goes---this set uses 2 Stk-392-570 ic's and it is quite common to see them become intermittant.

WS-65807 picture goes black when using HiDef Signal

Tank, If the unit operates correctly on DVD then we can assume that the signal chain and display is operational. Can you substitute the Directv receiver to rule the box out as part of the problem? I know they came out and checked but how exhausting was the testing? Have you checked signal strength on the directv on screen setup? Low or marginal signal strength could cause intermittent blanking. When the screen goes dark does the audio continue? please let us know..
