Internet connection shows good bars but can't connect to web

Just installed a Linksys WUSB100 RangePlus Wireless Network USB adapter. It's showing that it is connected to our home's wireless network, shows all green bars. However, when I open internet explorer it won't go to any websites. Just shows the error page. Any ideas?

First, can you please tell me if what OS are you using?

: if its VISTA or XP, please remove the network profile in your laptop ...
then search again for the network ... by the way what router are you using ? if its linksys please update this thread so that i can assist you if there is a need to reconfigure.

I want to use it on my asus tablet witch has 2-USB ports

You cannot use it for your ASUS tablet, but you do not need to because your tablet has WiFi capability built in. Probably you can use that adapter only with a regular computer (where you have a CD), most likely a desktop, because all laptops have WiFi capability built in.

Hope this helps.

Linksys Wireless Adapter that will not find the internet

I think you might be using the Linksys utility.
you can switch over to windows utility if it is XP or VISTA.
that will resolve the problem.
make sure that it will be connected to the network and should have proper IP address

I just bought the linksys rangeplus wireless wusb100 adapter it had a scratch on the cd so it did not fully install. Walmart will not even exchange it or give my money back and I have the receipt. All I...

First of all, I am shocked that Walmart didn't handle that for you. They are usually really good about that.

Second, I ran into the problem of not having my disc on hand so after some searching I found this page and it worked fine.

Source page...http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Adapters&message.id=19539&query.id=110581#M19539---see message #5 about halfway down the page.

Connecting WUSB100 to Wireless G WRT54G

laptops have a wide range reciever built around the screen and tend to be far better than a normal usb dongle.

The fact that your pc is downstairs will be effected a lot because the signals from the router will be bouncing around in an area around the antenna and above, signals below will be effected by floors, doors and wall partitions.

Your best solution would be to place the router on a phone line downstairs and see if the signal is increased.

Did you put in your WPA passphrase on the software for the adapter?
Click on the linksys icon in the lower right corner, go to site survey select your network then click connect. Put in your security key. That should do it.
