Hello there. As of about 5 or so years ago, it really doesn't matter which format of blank dvd you use to burn a disk to. if the intended player is around, or definitley older than that I would check on the specs in the manual to make sure.

My cd burner does not recognize a blank disk to burn. It keeps asking me to insert a blank disk even though I had just put a new blank disc in.

Are you putting the type of CD's it accepts?

Many burners will only accept specific disk types, such as most won't accept RW. That could be the possible issue in this case, what kind of burner are you using? If you post the model I could tell you what kind of disks it accepts.

Using Windows 7 Get msg. If Disk is ungormatted you need to format it.

Windows 7 does this to many drives whether it needs formatting or not.

Right click on the cd/dvd select properties see what options are available you might select customize option restore to defaults then click apply.

Hope this helps.

Where do you get the drivers for MATSHITA CD-RW CW-7586

Windows NT and 2000 and XP and Vista and 7 have "built-in" device-drivers for all CD-ROM, CD-writers, DVD-ROM, and DVD-writer devices. So, there's no need to "download" nor "install" any device-driver.

If you want _FREE_ software to help you create/burn disks, access: http://WWW.MajorGeeks.com and search for 'AShampoo Burning 6'. This is _FREE_ software that works fine.

Can play dvd but can't burner nero 9 and deep burner samsung writemaster does't show up as burner

i believe what you have is a dvd player/cd writer.this means you can play dvd's and burn only on cd's(not dvd's).so you may have to upgrade to a dvd writer drive.with this you can burn dvd's using nero 9.

Hi I just bought a i/o magic 22x external drive dvd+r/rw dual double, and its loud is this normal.

well it is normal if a drive is loud because there is a high speed motor running inside so nothing to worry unless it is working with no problems.

good luck.

How a cd drive works

A intense laser burns "micro-holes" in the film to represent the data...

A low intensity laser reads the spaces the high intensity laser left behind because the film casts back a reflection

DVD's work very similar; one low intensity layer and one high intensity layer. Furthermore, the laser makes much better use of the surface space so the DVD can hold more data

My burner is not working

This sounds to me like your CD/DVD is borked,& you need a new one, sorry.. Ya see, really the only way ya can "see" if it is OK, or not, is to try another one... to isolate the problem. They break down quite commonly I have found. If you are unable to do this, then it's off to the repair shop.. As I always say in these cases get a firm "Quote" and an explanation of repair.
