My Motherboard wont recognize my Hard Drive

I have a Gigabyte GA K8NSP motherboard i just installed a Samsung HE502IJ hard drive. So at this point i only have 1 hard drive in my computer. I have to install windows on it but for some reason my motherboard is not detecting it. I went into the bios to see it would detect it but it still doesnt. When i power on my computer i hear the hard drive spin so its connected properly. I thought i would need a jumper so i add it but it still wont read it with it on or without it. Please help i need to install windows on this hard drive

I have a GA K8NF-9 P2. I had Vista running on it until my HD broke. I replaced the HD (both IDE) and the new HD isn't recognized in the boot up. I can go into the Bios properties and see it, but when I boot up, it goes straight to CD, even if I have my boot order setup as HD, HD, HD.
I can load either XP or Vista on the CD, and it will recognize and format the HD, but when it gets to the point where it wants to reboot to finish installing, it just boots into CD and restarts the install. I haven't tried my Hardy Heron yet, but I am pretty sure that I will have the same result. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is it Sata or IDE?.Also is your boot order set to the CD rom as the first device. The O.S is bootable only if the CD runs it first. Windows should format it later in the install process.

Hard disk support, How much? 250GB Or less than

Your motherboard has two SATA connectors, this means you can use any capacity of drive, and also that you can use two drives. So your motherboard has no limit to the size of the hard disk, you can accommodate as large a hard drive as you want.

Wont recognize hard drive after upgrade ? keeps reading ide drives sees the says their functional but when i try to boot from cd and install windows it says no hard drives present ?

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this helps

One bad lead can cause a computer lots of problems
replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA the ones that attach from your motherboard to your hard drive
also you might try control panel administrive tools computer mangement device manager scroll to disk drives + to expand if you see your drive right click update driver, uninstall or select properties trobleshoot, select the driver where you can update driver, rollback driver or uninstall remembering to reinstall the driver after it is uninstalled

hope this helps

Can i install 1 tb hard drive

Your board has (4) Serial ATA (SATA) connectors so you can install an SATA hard drive of any size you want. Make sure you are running at least Windows XP SP 3 because earlier versions had trouble recognizing large hard drives. Also make sure your power supply has connectors for SATA drives. If not you can find 4 pin MOLEX to 15 pin SATA power converter cables on Tigerdirect.com

What kind of hardesk can installed to it sata or ide

This motherboard can use a SATA or IDE hard drive since it has connector for both SATA and IDE, but I suggest you use SATA hard drive for faster data transfer.

Gigabyte k8m800-8237 wont boot with hard drive installed, hard drive beeps and computer shuts down. when I unplug the hard drive the computer boots with DVD drive. Hard drive is good, but used a 2nd one...

sound like you either have a dead SATA socket on the board, use another one, or at worst try a PATA hard drive, second thought is possibly go into the bios and make sure you have no previous hardware raid arrays left behind, sounds odd.. but i have seen it cause similar problems before.

My Gigabyte GA-MA785gm-US2H does not recognize my Samsung SATA hard drive. I can see that it exists in the Advanced Bios Features, in the Hard Disk Boot Priority, and nowhere else. I can not load Windoews...

If you are trying to install Windows XP then this is to be expected. WIndows XP doesnt have native support for SATA. You will need to identify the SATA driver you need, then put that driver on a floppy disk. DUring the install of XP it will ask if you have any drivers you want to install. CHoose yes and put the floppy disk with the drivers on it in the disk drive.

If you dont have a floppy drive then you will need to create an install disk with the SATA drivers on it.
