SOURCE: freezer/fridge won't get cold enough

Madezmom, you have a defrost issue. If your model starts with 106 you more than likley have a bad defrost bi-metal, I will attach a picture of bad one. This sits on the evaporator in the freezer section behind the panel. You will have to remove the shelves and remove the back panel. Defrost the evaporator completely. The part number for the bi-metal is 2196155. See if yours is bulged like the one in the attached photo. If so, that's your problem..Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: Ice maker not making ice.

These Icemakers have plastic gears on the modules that are breaking, also some have thermostats that are malfunctioning. I recommend haveing an experianced tech look at the unit to see if you need the new upgraded indoor ice maker.

SOURCE: Kenmore Coldspot w/Ice Maker Not Making Ice

hi LOP7,
In most cases you can easily solve this problem.
step one would be to make sure your freezer is getting cold enough. If you have icecream in your freezer is it frozen solid or is it soft. Most icemakers cycle around 0 degrees and if your freezer is not getting to 0 then it will not cycle and it will not make ice.
Step two would be to make sure you icemake is cycling. To do this simply lift the little shut off arm on your icemaker and wait about an hour then go back to the icemaker and drop the arm down. The icemaker should start going through a cycle. You should notice the arm slowly begin to raise and the ice dispencer fingers will begin to turn. Then you will hear it call for water. You may hear a humm.
If the freezer is cold enough and the icemaker is cycling that only leaves the inlet valve. replace the valve and enjoy the ice.
If the freezer is cold enought and the icemaker does not cycle, then you have a bad icemaker. Simply replace the icemaker and viola.
Third if the freezer is not cold enought 0 defrees. Then you may have a defrost problem. In this case post more info and I will be happy to help. Good luck mca0824@aol.com

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite ice maker is not working & red light is blinking

Most likely a problem with the main ice making unit itself. I bought mine at ebay for $49 including shipping. Very simple to replace. You just swap the wiring harness and bottom plate. Takes about 20 minutes to do.
Make sure you do the IR led test. If you think you IR sender and receiver are bad to, $57 on ebay for the set. Most likely not your water solenoid in the lower back of frig (it gets the signal to turn on from the receiver module of the IR board.
Probably not your water filter (cuz the front water dispenser still probably works right?)
And probably not a clogged or frozen line.
Good luck. When it doubt, trust ebay!

SOURCE: ice is forming on my "not working" ice maker drawer

check that the water isn't over filling the ice mould or that water isn't escapeing down the back of the draw due to an allignment issue with the filler tube. worst case could possibly be a cracked ice mould.

Either the freezer temperature is too high or the internal thermostat inside the ice maker is faulty.
The freezer temp must be 5 degrees or less for the ice maker to work correctly.
If the freezer checks out OK you will need to replace the ice maker.

Water plug to the ice maker keeps popping out

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly This is usually caused by water leaking past the ice maker water valve. That water freezes up in the through the chassis water tube and then causes either the line to pop off or the tube to pop out. The remedy is to replace the ice maker water valve in the bottom rear of the unit. I just had to do the same thing for my own ice maker. The water line kept popping off and the ice maker had been making odd sized ice cubes. After replacing the water valve everything is normal.

If you need assistance locating a replacement water valve just respond with a make and model number of your unit and I will help you find a parts source.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Kenmore Model 106.54619300

not knowing your ice maker model
if you have a white box like cove on the end,
pop that off
you will be looking at the ejection moter wheel
to the botom right, you should see two holes
one T one H jumps those out with a small peice of wire, you may need to hold the door switch on the freezer,,,,
if you jumped it out correctly, yo will hear a definitive click,
take out the jumper
watch the whole cycle 3=mins
keeping an eye on the ice machine the whole time
if it does everything but eject your motor is stipped
and you will need a new one

Side by side freezer door pops open

This is a problem inherent with lots of refrigerators. Side by side or top freezer. The rush of air pops the doors. You might want to adjust the pitch of the box by adjusting the front wheels to a higher level.

Older Admiral refrigerator. ice maker doesnt turn off

Gabe,

I'm not familiar with this particular icemaker, but the cover will either pop/snap off or it has a screw or two in it. Make sure there are no screws before you try to pop it off. You sound pretty handy, so I have confidence you will get it off successfully.

Ice maker has stoped making ice. The bar that cuts it off when enough ice is made moves a little while in the up position.

lifting the bar to the full up position is how you stop the ice maker from making ice. move the bar back down and ice making will resume.

Freezer door won't stay shut

This indicates that you do not have good airflow and return airflow between your freezer and refrigerator sections. That is why the pressure from closing one door is causing the other one to pop open.

Check the drain tube on the back of the machine to make sure it is not clogged or blocked with frozen water inside. Also check any return air flow vents inside the unit for clear ice.
