When in rinse cycle the pump growels the GE repair guy changed the pump but said the hose could be rubbing on the floor or chassis making the noise.

All our GE appliances are noisey. Fridge Icemaker motor growlels, washing machine agitator klunks, dryer motor humms. Low end machines very little sound deadening.

SOURCE: Dishwasher won't drain?

HI. check the following areas for fualts.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

Dishwasher will not drain I think it:s the pump

It will help if you provide the make and model of dishwasher. There can be several reasons for dishwasher not draining. The most common is blocked filters or drain hose. Also ensure the kitchen side of drain is clear. If pump is running but making grinding sounds then something is blocking the drain pump. If you do not hear pump running sound then the dishwasher may not even be getting to the drain cycle for other reasons.

Loud sounds

Many Frigidaire dishwashers come with the promise of being the "quietest dishwasher in its class," according to Frigidaire. However, a quiet dishwasher doesn't necessarily mean that the dishwasher is silent, as some noises are normal. It can take some troubleshooting at times to determine if a noise coming from the dishwasher is typical or if it indicates a larger problem Listen for the sound of water filling and draining throughout the wash cycle. These sounds are normal and do not indicate an issue.

  • 2 Pay attention to the drain motor, which operates at the beginning of each cycle. This noise should be fairly quiet and should not sound like a loud, grinding or banging sound.
  • 3 Note that the sound will change when the wash cycle moves between the lower and middle spray arms. This sound should be temporary and fairly quiet.
  • 4 Look for hard items in the dishwasher grinder or filter if a loud crunching, buzzing or grinding sound is heard. The dishwasher can typically grind up these items within one or two cycles, but the item may be lifted out and discarded to eliminate the sound.
  • 5 Remove the bottom rack and spray arms from the bottom of the dishwasher if there is a loud noise coming from the dishwasher that does not resolve itself. Look inside for the impeller, which is round and spins. Remove any debris that may be clogging up the impeller or pump.

Rubbing sound in motor when car is running. Sounds like a belt is rubbing or something is grinding as it is turning when motor runs. Any ideas?

hi from uk may i offer advice ? considering age of car and possible high milage ?? if you have not replaced the cambelt+tensioner which should be donearound 60,000 mls have it checked asap as if belt or tensioner fails you are looking at serious damage ! however this rubbing noise? may turn out to be some other fault like alternator bearing? or water pump but as you mention rubbing and especially grinding? i would suspect c/belt+tensioner ? so resist driving too far untill this noise is investigated sorry unable to provide a diagnosis as have not heard noise but hope you take advice given ?
