Hi,
You can purchase the SD map from here
http://www.finedrive-acc.com/shop.cart?action=ITEM∏_id=6
Try to reset the device otherwise needs to be replaced.
Might be a corrupted firmware causing that error, try and find an updated firmware for it or software that is. if you cant find it let me know and i'll look for it myself. Thanks
I found a couple of thing you can try:
Resetting the GPS
The GPS reset function is helpful when the device doesnt
recognize your current location properly. If the device doesnt
recognize the current location for a while, please try the
following procedure before returning it to the retailer.
Park your vehicle at a safe place free of
obstructions
Select the Setting on the Home Screen.
Select the GPS Reset icon.
Tap the GPS Reset icon.
Allow up to 5 minutes for the Finedrive 400 to
locate a GPS signal
Contact Technical Support if your current position
is repeatedly not detectable
Setting Touchpad Calibration
In very rare cases, if the Finedrive 400 stops moving completely
and you cannot activate any of the buttons, it could be a
touchpad calibration issue. Use the touch calibration function
when touch pad is not working at all. Try the following
procedure before returning it to the retailer.
If you need access to the user guide you can find it here: http://www.finedigitalusa.com/2006/support/FD400_UserGuide.pdf
I hope this helps as I couldnt find any other info related to your error issue.
Its probably a bad SD card, if a firmware upgrade doesn't work, then try a different card, if that doesn't work, then we can look into other possible causes but the SD card is the best bet
Please try to reset to the factory settings and then try to reconfigure.
It is a frimware problem. the same happened to me. there is an easy procedure to reinstall the firmware from the fine digital site. this is a common problem and you will have it fixed in a jiffy.
you can find the site mentioned here

Setting a Personal Security Code (PIN)
If you want to be able to play your messages from a remote location, you need to enter a two-digit Personal
Identification Number (PIN) code (01-99).
To select a PIN, perform the following steps:
1) With the phone in standby, press [menu/clock] twice.
The system announces "Security code," and the current PIN code is announced as it is displayed on the base.
Then the system announces the instructions for setting the PIN code.
2) Press [volume/select/ ] or [volume/select/ ] until the desired number appears.
3) Press [set] to select the PIN code. You hear a confirmation tone, then the announcement "Security code"
followed by the new PIN code is announced. After a few seconds, the system announces "To set ring time, press
menu again."
Note: The PIN code is set to "80" at the factory.

After receiving the"fatal Error" notification I then unplug and then replug the GPS unit and it operates normally for 1-2 minutes before it recurrs.
Where do I find a Firmware upgrade? Where do I purchase a new SD card?
