Please provide the exact nomenclature, e.g., name model series, operating system, etc. and I believe that I can assist you. Some of the earlier models used Linux for an operating system.

Try running the Check Disk Utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

SOURCE: Product: Sylvania Netbook (SyNet7WID).

Hello, from what I understand, the netbook doesn't use an Intel-standard processor, so only code specifically for that chip will run, ie, no downloadable plug-ins,java, flash etc. CE itself is based on windows 98. I found a site giving useful overviews on these netbooks, I think they're worth visiting: tp://bestgadgetnow.co.uk/gadget-news/99-cvs-sylvania-netbook-computer-review/
just don't try to view it on your netbook! regards, nicam49

SOURCE: Can you add memory to a sylvania netbook synet7wid

Fixed memory such as a laptop or desktop allows is not possible on the SYNET07526. what you see is what you got. However, it can see a USB drive or memory stick through your USB ports, which can be used as a repository for downloaded items and Email. It will not access a program or such from that USB.

SOURCE: On my Sylvania 7" netbook from CVS (SYNET7WID-R).

Try to open the websites using Firefox. If you are already using firefox, try to reset it to default settings and try to open the websites again. If you don't want to use firefox, try to reset whichever browser you are using to default settings and try again.

You may also try clearing cache.

SOURCE: SYNET7WID-R NETBOOK FROM SYLVANIA DOES

Gotta go a little further... Try this:

Google "digital gadgets.com". There find "Sylvania Products". Then click on "7 inch netbook support" read and follow directions. On item # 4, you will find your "Hot Spot" name. Click and Connect there.

For item # 5, you may have to call your Internet Service Provider (Charter, AT&T or whoever you pay for your internet in order to get your "network keys" fill that in and then click "OK".

Be sure your Wi-Fi is turned on... Look for the "WiFi Power" icon on the left side of the main screen... Click it... "Turn Off" means it is ON. "Turn On" means it is OFF... You'll see how that works.

Now Then On The Machine itself:
Next be sure you go to "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "Internet Options", "General" and complete "user agent (requires browser restart" by selecting:
"Default (same as windows XP)" or
"Same As Pocket PC" or
"Windows CE".

I selected "default" and was off and running.

Although this isn't a "lap-top" it is a really neat little machine and does a lot of stuff almost like one. It should be great for travel! It is a little slow and has small memory, but it's inexpensive and usb/sd ports are onboard. A regular universal mouse helps-just plug it into a USB port. I'm doing internet, movies, word processing, etc like everything and I think a lot of people are way under-rating this fun little machine! -DKA-

No there is not. Unfortunately those Sylvanias are throw away junk Get rid of it and pick up a used netbook with the intel atom CPU. Like a dell mini or a acer aspire one. These are more like full function laptops. on Ebay or Craigslist less tthan $100

SYLVANIA SYNET7WID will not boot past "loading device drivers". I need a fix. I tried downlaoding the NEW OS. It did not work.

there may be two reasons that the download did not work.
1. Your SD card may not be formatted correctly and the loader of the netbook cannot see it.
2. You may not have followed the directions correctly as they are rather cryptic on the site.

You must first down load the upgrade to a computer that you can un-zip the file and then copy the Script file to the root directory of the properly formatted SD card.

When i turn it on it just gets to screen saying loading os image.... and freezes

If you have a SYNET07526 or a SYNET7WID, then you are probably going to have to re-flash your system as some item is missing from your boot sequence. See my TIP at: http://www.fixya.com/support/r7350901-fix_synet07526_wifi_flashing

I booted up the Sylvania 7" Netbook and the Windows CE OS image would not load. I have had no problems up to now.

Flip the machine over and find a small hole about 1in. diagonally from the right lower corner of the data plate. Insert the tip of a tooth pick into the hole and press down for about 10 second, with the AC power connected to the machine. It should re-load a fresh copy of the operating system
