Print Cartridge Carriage Stalled

I keep getting this error message on my HP PSC 1610 All-in-One printer. "The print cartridge carriage is stalled." It then tells me to open door, clear carriage jam and press ok. How do I clear the carriage jam?

I repeatedly get the message print cartridge stalled. I have to push the cartridge back and forth. I can see no jam or reason for it to stall

Hello,
This can be said as a bit complicated problem. This problem is exhibited by the printer when the cartridge carriage mechanism is getting stuck at some end. I should advice that you make sure that the SS ( Service Station ) of the printer is not jammed / clogged. If yes, try cleaning it. It is also caused when the motor is malfunctions and tries to move the carriage beyond the path that it should go.
It is best recommended that you consult an authorized HP Service person for the solution of this issue.
Thank you.

Stalled printer cartridges

Sounds like an issue with the print carriage. When it's out of alignment and tries to print, it can make awful noises. HP.com has a web page that describes a number of troubleshooting steps when you have print carriage issues:

Carriage Jam Errors

There's also a related web page having to do with the noise coming from the printer:

Noisy Print Carriage

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Remove and checl color cartridge

The problem most likely is with the electrical contact between the color cartridge and print carriage. Even if you've replaced the cartridge, if the contacts on the carriage are still dirty, it won't make a good connection with the new cartridge and the error message will still appear.

Fortunately, the HP web site has a solution posted at the following link:

Cleaning Cartridge and Print Carriage Contacts

Good luck.
