Uninstall McAfee and install one of the free Antiviruses such as AVG, AVAST or Microsoft Security Essentials. Use Windows Firewall. Just turn on Windows Firewall in the Control Panel.

Error 138 (net::ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED

Either: peerblock is blocking your sites
Or: This is most likely your antivirus program blocking Chrome from accessing the internet. The firewall is blocking Google Chrome because the antivirus program no longer recognizes it - even though it is on the list of permitted programs. To fix this problem, make sure your antivirus and/or firewall software are configured as a trusted application to allow Chrome to access the internet.

Why is my dell dimension 3000 with xp keeps getting file download- security warning for everything I try to open? Even opening the internet icon on my computer

I see XP, sorry ok here's your fix...
Because a firewall restricts communication between your computer and the Internet, you might need to adjust settings for some programs that prefer an open connection. These adjustments are called "exceptions." To learn more about exceptions, see the Using the Exceptions Tab section of this article.
Windows Firewall now has three settings: On, On with no exceptions, and Off.
On: Windows Firewall is turned on by default, and normally you should leave it that way. When you choose this setting, Windows Firewall blocks all unsolicited requests to connect to your computer, except for requests to programs or services selected on the Exceptions tab.
On with no exceptions: When you select the Don't allow exceptions check box, Windows Firewall blocks all unsolicited requests to connect to your computer, including requests to programs or services selected on the Exceptions tab. Use this setting when you need maximum protection for your computer, such as when you connect to a public network in a hotel or airport, or when a dangerous virus or worm is spreading over the Internet.
Tip There is no need to keep Don't allow exceptions selected all the time, because when it is, some of your programs might not work correctly, and the following services are blocked from accepting unsolicited requests:
• File and Printer Sharing
• Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop
• Discovery of network devices
• Preconfigured programs and services on the exceptions list
• Additional items that you've added to the exceptions list

Note When you select Don't allow exceptions, you can still send and receive e-mail, use an instant messaging program, or view most Web pages.
Off: This setting turns Windows Firewall off. When you choose this setting, your computer is much more vulnerable to harm from unknown intruders or viruses from the Internet. This setting should only be used by advanced users for computer administration purposes, or if your computer is protected by another firewall.
To adjust Windows Firewall settings
1.
Click Start and then click Control Panel.
2.
In the control panel, click Windows Security Center.
3.
Click Windows Firewall.
4.
In the General Tab make your selection.

Note Settings that you create when your computer is joined to a domain are stored separately from those created when your computer is not joined to a domain. These separate groups of settings are called profiles.

If the above does not work you may also need to adjust your internet security settings. You can do this by the following:
Open up your internet explorer
click on tools
select internet options
click on the security tab
change the sttings to medium, rather than what they are. Click apply and ok. Exit your browser and restart it to try to connect again. Let me know if the above options do not work and we will try the next step. Hope this helps!

Youtube is blocked

Get to You-Tube from work or school, even through a firewall by using an Anonymizer or Private web surfing site For years internet privacy experts have been using anonymizers, Proxies, private web-surfing services and other identity hiding software or services to get to websites privately.
proxy-settings.jpg These anonymizers and Anonymous web surfing services are usually used to hide your tracks while surfing the internet, making it impossible for anyone to trace what web-pages you have visited - but you can also use anonymizers and proxies to access YouTube and other websites at school or work that are blocked by a firewall. These anonymous web surfing services when used together with Firefox will usually let you get around any firewall.
Most web-proxy services or anonymizers are not free, but many do offer partial service for free or a free trial period, which might work for you depending on what type of firewall your school uses.
You may have to try a few different internet anonymous web surfing services or proxies to see which one works best with the firewall that your school or office has. Most of these services do not require you to install any software on the computer you're using at. You simply log into their website from work or school, then use the service to get to YouTube.com or whatever websites your school or business firewall is blocking. You can use these services with or without Firefox.

How an anonymizer gets around a firewall An anonymizer or Private web-surfing service gets around your school's firewall by setting up a connection between your computer and the anonymizer service or proxy, so the firewall only sees the connection from you to them. The anonymizer's computers then connect to YouTube.com (or Hotmail, Myspace, etc) with their internet connection and send the data back to you. To the school's firewall it looks like your computer is connecting to the proxy's web address and not Youtube.com.
Some schools block proxys and anonymous web surfing sites, especially the free ones, so you may have to try a few to find one that works The I.T. guys at your school or in your company's I.T. Department might be smart enough to configure their firewall to block the common proxys and private web-surfing websites and services right along with blocking YouTube.com. Lucky for you, there are LOTS of different internet-proxy and anonymizer services to choose from! You may have to experiment with different proxies until you find one that works with the firewall settings at your school or in your office at work.
There are no guarantees when they block YouTube.com You might only have to try one or two different anonyimizers or web-proxy services before you can connect to YouTube.com from school. You might also try 50 and never find one that works if your school's firewall is really good. The only way to find it is to try. WARNING: The use of web-proxies or anonymizers to bypass firewalls might be against the rules at your school or place of employment. If using proxies is against the rules, use them at your own risk or don't use them at all!

Fatal error

Turn off Windows XP firewall or click "allow" in the window and retry.

It's a window telling you that Windows firewall have noticed that CS1.6 is trying to connect to the internet and it asks if you want to allow it or not. When you press "keep blocking" you tell your firewall to stop CS1.6 from using internet.

You can't play online without using the net, right? :)

you may have a firewall that is blocking. If you have recently installed any antivirus programs, they sometimes come with firewalls that block certain programs from accessing the internet. Just adjust your firewall setting or remove your firewall entirely. although I don't recommend you turning off your firewall as it is your first line of defense when on the internet.

Norton Internet Security 2004/2005 has an effective firewall. This is in addition to the Windows firewall. Firewalls monitors and restricts information that travels between your computer and a network or the Internet and provides a line of defense against someone who might try to access your computer from outside the Firewall without your permission. In this case the windows firewall was disabled and Norton Firewall was the main one. When some program from your computer tries to connect to the internet, Norton Internet Security gives a prompt, which has options to allow or block the access. Many times the recommended option is to block the access. So be careful to see what you are blocking internet access before clicking OK. Click the Norton Security icon at the bottom right corner in your system tray. On the pop up window, first check if you have not clicked ?Block Traffic? button. As this will block all internet access. If that is ok, maybe the program has been blocked access and has to be unblocked manually. But it was not easy to find where was the blocked list. But here is it location. Go to Norton Internet Security > System and Settings and this is what you see ... Then you see that the Personal firewall is turned on to protect from unauthorized access to spyware, adware and other unwanted software. Click ?Configure? button. Go to Programs and scroll down the list for Manual Program Control. There you will see the individual internet access settings for each individual program. And you see that Mozilla Firefox/Internet Explorer setting shows ?Block All?. From the drop down list select ?Permit All? and now open Firefox. It works! And he is back to using firefox as his default browser again. Now you can scroll through the entire list and individually set the programs to allow and block internet access. Now you may fix some programs not working with the internet which you might have blocked by mistake. You can also set some allowed programs to block. I hope this tip helps. Now figure out the Custom option yourself!
