How do I get a replacement USB and power cord for my Seagate Freeagent

    went to a computer liquidators ( my home away from home ) and the helpful staff sold me a new cable..I am a happy man.

I was told by Seagate Support that the USB cable and power cord can be picked up at any Electronic Outlet store.

Hi I Have an I O Error On My External Hard (500 GB Seagate) and I can't open or copy my files. Please Help Me. Thank You


  1. Unplug both the power cord and USB cable from the external Seagate hard drive.
  2. Restart your computer
  3. Plug back in both the power cord and USB cable from the external Seagate hard drive.
Comment back if this doesn't fix the issue.

You can pick up a replacement cord at radio shack. they have universal cords that match the power rating.

Need a new power supply for FreeAgent 500


Probably has a 5 year warranty. Go to Seagate's site, enter the model and serial numbers, and see what you find.

Seagate freeagent 1TB Ext HDD wont power up.


try with removing and reconnecting the bus cable and smps cable.
and try with different bus connection

I lost my power cord for my seagate freeagent pro 500g en route to iraq and can't figure out what the power requirements are, how many volts and amps, i don't want to short it out
