It is either your laser or the thing that spins the dvd so that it can be read. Is it one where the door pops up or slides open? If it is one where the door pops up, then try this: open the door of it and put the disc in. Then get something like a paper clip and unbend it. In the slot where a piece of the door is supposed to go to tell the dvd player if there is a dvd inserted, stick the paper clip in that area and see if the dvd spins. If it spins, it is a problem with the laser, and if it does not spin, them you may need a new motor or you may have to check the power cord that leads to the motor.
If yours has the door that slides out, check to see if you hear any noise of a dvd spinning. If not, then you will need to replace the motor or check the power cord to the motor. If it does spin it is also a problem with the laser. If it can spin, a laser cleaner can be used.It has bristles at the bottom of the cd used to clean the laser of dust and dirt. You can also try blowing on it, but do not touch it. This should work.

When you put in a CD cleaner or any CD for that matter. A CDROM will automatically initialize meaning it will spin the disc and try to read it. hence the min that you put in the CD cleaner and the lens TRIES to read it. the lens is already being cleaned.

The CD cleaner disc need not be read. It has a small protrusion with brush like membranes. The cleaner disc will brush over the lens and physically clean it.

    Hi again,

Any updates or developments so far?

    Hi again,

Appreciate the reply. Offhand, the only alternative left is to open the unit and perform manual cleaning. Might as well do some housekeeping and use a can of compressed air to blow out the dust and re-application of appropriate lubricant on the mechanism especially the guide rail of the lens carriage. Cotton buds maybe used on the lens/eye itself.

Should this still be not corrective, then it would be a defective laser. Though it is replaceable/repairable, the cost may no longer be economical and perhaps you can consider other options such as purchase of a new unit. Sorry.

How to resolve Xbox 360 disc read errors. Xbox will not play disc.

Is your xbox360 having trouble reading disc? In this guide I will provide some common solutions to help you fix your disc read issues.

1)Remove any memory devices or usb flash drives.
2)If the disc you are using is excessively scratched, this can cause the xbox to have trouble reading the disc. You can use a damp soft cloth to try and clean the disc. Grab the disc by the edges and using a soft damp cloth lightly wipe the disc from the center going outward.

3)Try removing your Xbox hard drive and then play a disc. Turn off the console. Locate the hard drive on the top of your system(depending on how you have it positioned). Press the release button on the hard drive.

If your system can read disc without the hard drive attached then you may need to replace the drive.

4)Clear the Xbox360 cache. Clearing the cache may remove updates to certain games. Keep this in mind.
Go to System Settings in the My Xbox menu. Select Memory, highlight your storage device and select Clear System Cache. Try and play the disc.

If after the above steps you are still having trouble. You may want to contact Microsoft Xbox live support to have your system serviced. You can find the support information in the link below,

Disc inserted but NO DISK message appears

Try other discs to see if its still working properly...most likely the recording on the disc is not burnt properly or there's something wrong with the disc, (ie, scratched or surface dirt etc) or the DVD player just can't read the disc...for example can it read the type of disc(does it read dvd+r or dvd-r, or both?--- if i remember rightly)..... I've had discs that have had bad recordings but can still be read if placed into tray a particular way around... randomly try different positions, also cleaning disc as you go...depending on how desperately you want it to read the disc...could also be bad disc batch... there could be many reasons...

Getting disc read error

THere are a number of problems that can cause a disc read error. The lens can be damaged or very dirty. The motor that moves the les could be stuck or damaged. The disc could be dirty or scratched. Or the disc format might not be able to be read by the player. Do you try more than one disc? Are you trying different types of discs? like store boght discs and recordable discs. Some players wont read mp3 or cd-rw discs.

No disc

Hello,

has it been reading discs previously? If it has been reading discs previously, then it means the lens (laser) of your player is weak and that's why it cannot read disc.

You need to change the lens for it to be able to read disc again.

Good luck.

Wii can"t read disc

If Wii gives can't read disc, so first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. How to download unreadable disc for lexmark printer

The printer install disc may be faulty or your disc drive is faulty.
Insert the disc into a different computer, if it can be read then the problem is your disc drive.
If it is your disc drive, turn off your computer, open your computer and remove and reconnect the power and data cables on the "faulty" drive, switch on your computer, let it boot up and install the printer disc.
If it still cannot read the disc then you need to replace the faulty disc drive with a new one.

Unable to read wii discs

I had the same problem, I take it you have a modded wii(chipped), if you use a backup disc it is of a lower quality then original discs, the wii gets read errors without you noticing and tries to read those disc areas again sometimes suceeding and the gaming goes on, sometimes it fails, and a disc read error occurs. Over time the dvd assembly will take some damage it will loose it rigidity it once had and the wii stops reading discs. The problem gets worse if you have standing up, so first thing si to flip it down and try. Otherwise you (or someone you trust) will have to open the wii and adjust the lens sled so it wont flap as much up and down. Hope this helps..

How do I reset the factory default settings on a Coby brand TV, model #TFTV1525 without being able to view the menu screen? I have a separate cable box that is used in conjunction with the Coby TV. Someone tried using the TV remote to change the channels on the cable box. *Note: The remote for the TV is used only to control the on/off, sleep timer and volume control functions, all other functions are controlled by the cable box remote. Not being able to make it work properly, they then started messing around with the TV remote and made changes to one or more settings and the picture went out as a result. As they continued trying to fix it blindly, the sound then went out. Now without being able to view the menu screen, I can't see what needs to be adjusted in order to make the TV function properly again. Since Coby is no longer in business, I am left trying to figure out on my own how to resolve this problem. Since I cannot do so, I am looking for help from anyone who has good knowledge of this particular TV and can tell me how I can go about resetting the factory defaults in order to get the TV in working order again. I read something in the online users manual that said to unplug the TV for 30 minutes then plug it back in and that should reset everything but that didn't work. The TV turns on but that's as much as I can do at this point so I can either hope that someone can help me resolve this issue or I will need to replace my now non-working TV with a new one. If anyone knows how to perform the reset of the US version default settings other than viewing the menu screen, please let me know. Greatly appreciated. Thanks.
