Question about Philips 42PF9631D 42 in. Plasma Television
First of all, sorry for my english.
I have a macmini connected via dvi-hdmi cable to my 42pf9631d.
Resolution is 720p.
Problem 1) image of the descktop is larger than display itself. For example i can't see the apple on the right, and this is a dinamic situation, because in a couple of minutes the problem moves and i can't see the spotlight on the left.
Problem 2) Sometimes, the image of the desktop moves and i can see on the right (or on the left, because this is dinamic too), a vertical illuminated line (green, red, white... it depends).
I've tried to change the cable, but nothing changed.
I've tried to connect macmini to another tv (an LG) via hdmi at the same resolution and it works fine!
So I think the problem might be in my tv only.
Last but not least, I upgraded the driver to the latest release on philips site.
Many thanks in advance.

The TV is on protect mode.
Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.
Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.
If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.
The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.
1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.
2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.
If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.
If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.
Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.
Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.
If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual
If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

This is quite tricky as it was working until last night and suddenly stopped receiving signals. What can happen wrong?
Do you have any other Player or other HDMI cables to try out. Sometimes the cables would be damaged or PC may fail to detect the HDMI.
Try this out from Philips helpdesk where there is new SW and FAQs are available.
Let me know if you are not able to upgrade the FW (if you do not get the support on ugprading)

SOURCE: TV sound but no picture
Can you tell me which Cable box you are using?Which model/region?
The possibility is that the HDCP handshake could not have happend correctly and hence the issue. Try to connect to different HDMI input of TV from Cable box. If possible change the resolution of cable box and check video

SOURCE: Hi! I have a Philips LCD-TV
It can be incompatible problem or resolution is too high even though this TV should be able to support 1080p. You can try running the PS3 at lower resolution first and start going up from there.
