Image larger than tv screen on philips 42pf9631d with macmini

First of all, sorry for my english.
I have a macmini connected via dvi-hdmi cable to my 42pf9631d.
Resolution is 720p.
Problem 1) image of the descktop is larger than display itself. For example i can't see the apple on the right, and this is a dinamic situation, because in a couple of minutes the problem moves and i can't see the spotlight on the left.
Problem 2) Sometimes, the image of the desktop moves and i can see on the right (or on the left, because this is dinamic too), a vertical illuminated line (green, red, white... it depends).
I've tried to change the cable, but nothing changed.
I've tried to connect macmini to another tv (an LG) via hdmi at the same resolution and it works fine!
So I think the problem might be in my tv only.
Last but not least, I upgraded the driver to the latest release on philips site.
Many thanks in advance.
Paolo.

    I have the same problem with mine. The only thing that I can guess is that Philips decided to put some garbage "auto-scaling" feature that you cannot turn off and the edge of the LCD is about 1-.5 inches over the edge of the frame. I get the same problem in watching regular HDTV as some of the text on the bottom of the screen is cut off. This is really pissing me off as I spent about $1k for a big-*** HDTV to use with my PC and my HD equipment and now I'm loosing a big chunk of the screen (1" over the edge x 4 edges). I can't even get my Nvidia console to "under-scan" it correctly, which is odd because this is the very reason for this feature in the drivers. Any help would be appreciated!

SOURCE: Red LED blinking after turn on the TV (Philips Plasma 42PF9631D

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours,sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

SOURCE: Philips LCD TV "47, model PFL 8404H/12, NO SIGNAL on all 4 HDMI

This is quite tricky as it was working until last night and suddenly stopped receiving signals. What can happen wrong?
Do you have any other Player or other HDMI cables to try out. Sometimes the cables would be damaged or PC may fail to detect the HDMI.

Try this out from Philips helpdesk where there is new SW and FAQs are available.

Let me know if you are not able to upgrade the FW (if you do not get the support on ugprading)

Can you tell me which Cable box you are using?Which model/region?

The possibility is that the HDCP handshake could not have happend correctly and hence the issue. Try to connect to different HDMI input of TV from Cable box. If possible change the resolution of cable box and check video

SOURCE: Hi! I have a Philips LCD-TV

It can be incompatible problem or resolution is too high even though this TV should be able to support 1080p. You can try running the PS3 at lower resolution first and start going up from there.

Struggling to connect my Goodmans Freeview+ HD recorder (HDMI output) to either the DVI (female) or VGA (female) input of my Samsung LE27T61B TV which is HD ready with a resolution of 1366 x 768.

They are different protocols. You have to have a converter than changes the protocol (protocol is like a language...it needs to be translated to a different language). They are available from eBay or amazon but they don't always work very well. Best thing to do is get a unit with the correct connections.

Hi, Simply attaching the cable isn't always enough. Sometimes you actually have to tell the laptop to display via HDMI or DVI onto your external monitor or it will not output any signal.

Try pressing Windows Key+P, this will change your presentation settings in Windows (What screens you get a display on and how they are displayed). Cycle through to either "projector only" or "duplicate screens" and see if you get a display on your TV then.

Is the 42" philip plasma

If you really want, you can use an old CRT TV as a monitor provided you get it connected.... so your plasma... YES. If your PC has a DVI port, you could use a DVI - HDMI cable to connect. If your PC does NOT have a DVI port, you could install a video card that does... better yet, get a video card that has a HDMI port. This way, you'll only need a HDMI cable to connect the PC to the TV for audio and video.

I want to connect my computer to my Vizio TV to watch movies via netflix on my TV screen. If HDMI on TV end, what connection do I need to connect to the back of computer?

What "video-inputs" does your TV have:

* composite video (single cable for video, two cables for LEFT/RIGHT audio)
* component video (RED/GREEN/BLUE cables for video, plus RED/WHITE cables for stereo audio)
* DVI or VGA input
* HDMI input
* S-Video (similar to PS/2 keyboard/mouse, in size, and "round" shape)

What outputs does your computer's video-card have:

* composite (post-and-ring)
* S-Video
* DVI
* VGA
* HDMI

Just match them up.

I've just bought a philips blu ray player (BDP3000) and connected to my Philips 42PF9631D Plasma using an HDMI cable but no sound comes through. Any ideas?

Hi,

I would suggest few options for you to get the audio back. I hope video is coming out correctly?.

1. Select the proper HDMI input where you connected BDP.
2. Set the HDMI audio set up to ON/bitstream(do not select OFF).
3. If the Digital Audio Output set up is available select PCM/ALL and not OFF.
3. If you have connected external amplifier pls..remove this?
4. Are you playing a DVD/BD with normal Dolby content or DTS content? Because some TV sets do not have the decoders to decode the DTS content hence there would be no sound.

Let me know if you still have problems

My visonteck 1300 graphics card box states that it can be interfaced with my hdtv via dvi cord, where do i find a cord for it? what is it DVI to USB or DVI to PCmoniter cord?

Depending on the connections on your HDTV you'll have a few different options.

DVI on HDTV - Using a simple DVI to DVI cable will work. (DVI is the larger port on your video card - generally white in color)

VGA on HDTV - Use a standard VGA monitor cable to connect them. (VGA is the Blue 15pin connector on the video card)

HDMI on HDTV - This is the case for most new HDTVs - You'll need a DVI to HDMI cable - your local electronic store will have these in the tv section.

If all else fails you can use s-video (the circular connector) this is much lower quality though.

Does you 9631 have 2 HDMI ports ? And are u trying to use both HDMI ports at once trying to use the pic in pic feature ? The processor might not be able to process both HDMI signals at once. Try using the tuner (a tv channel and a AV connection ) and see if you have the same problem).
