Question about LG VX-8700 Cellular Phone

LG VX8700 won't stay charged...

My phone dies without warning.
What's strange is, if I have two bars left and I top it off with a charge, the next time I turn the phone on it won't start up. Whereas, if I let the battery drain completely then charge, I have a better chance of the battery holding its charge.
My first assumption was that it was the battery. I replaced it, then a little over a week later, I started having the same problem again.
How can I determine whether it's the phone or the batteries?

    Thanks,
As originally stated, I did replace the batteries and I am still having the same problem with it holding a charge. Before I spend another $40.00 on a battery, I was inquiring if there is anyway to test if there is something wrong with the phone.

    Thanks again.

I have the exact same problem and Verizon makes me really upset because they only want to sell me a new phone. I switched both the battery and phone TWICE and still have the same problem. However when Verizon replaces the phone under warrenty they give "used" phone. My best friend has the same phone and has no problems probably because her's isn't used.

I had the same problem with mine... I found that you must let the battery completely drain out; I was continuously jumping to charge my phone when it was down to one bar, and realized that upon doing this, the battery never fully retains its charge for as long as it will if you let it die out (blank screen; completely off).

I did this twice, and have not had a problem since.

Hope that helps!

Ifthe cell battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall. ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected thebattery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced.

Hi,
The happy news is there is no problem with phone, the hardware of your phone is in good condition. The problem is the battery. The battery of the phone is dead. This a step behind Stone dead stage.Next state of your battery is stone dead. You can't even use it more. Now the phone Battery will act like charging.Your battery can take small amount charge only because it is dead..Even though you charge your battery for 2 days continuously it will stay for 30 min or 10 min depending the charge usage.

Solution for this is you have to replace it soon..Go to nearest shop and check this with their battery and buy it.

Please do rate the solution if the issue is
resolved or post a comment for further
assistance.

thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

LG neon battery dies within minutes!

The same thing happened to me you have to take it back to LG and tell them to replace your battery or buy it from Radioshack. At&T gives cheap batterys.

Battery Won't Stay Charged

well if you have recieved new batteries and they wont stay charged then the problem isn't the batteries apparently. It could possibly be that your charger has gone bad and isn't charging your battery all the way. I suggest buying a new charger and it should fix your problem and if it's not your charger then it must be the outlet supplying voltage to the charger going bad. More than likely you need a new charger cause it seems like its not getting the voltage it needs to charge your phone.

Lg ks360 battery problem,, charge it up fully and battery dies in 2 hours my phone is dead in the morning when i left it the night before with only one bar of the battery down. What can i do to solve this...

Im not sure if this goes for phones...
But I noticed that when you get something with a charger and you seem to over-charge it (Leaving it constantly plugged in or charging it for long periods of time after its fully charged) it actually makes the life of the object shorter....

It could be that because you've been leaving it over night to charge its been eating at the LGs battery...

But like I said, im not sure...
Obviously you can't fix something like that...

Battery went dead

Most likely you have a bad battery you can check by taking out the battery and feeling on it if it is flat than its good if it has a bump on it than it is no good.

Battery for LG VX8700

The little plastic notch (button looking thing) on the back of the phone, near the top slides up (use your fingernail) When this is done the aluminum plate on the back comes off. Then use your fingernail again to pull outward on the top-left notch of the battery.

KU990 Viewty's battery loses charge very quickly

I saw on another forum two good tips.

1. Do not use a case with a magnetic clip.

2. Take off the battery cover and put tape over the two small etched squares that you can see one at each end on the inside of the cover.

I did this and up to now my battery has doubled its life. Still two bars after 1.5 days of medium use.
