What specifically makes a Chromebook run out of memory? Is there a way to make it less likely to run out of memory too soon?

Well, how much memory does your chrome book have? Sounds like you have low memory to start.
Suggestion would be to purchase additional if your chrome book is able to upgrade. I'm not very familiar with chrome books. But, sounds like you are running low on virtual memory, and RAM.

Sound disturbance from dell laptop

It sounds like you blew out the laptop speakers. The cones inside of them may have ruptured and they will not ever sound good. However, the connecton to the speakers may be touching another componet inside the laptop and causing interferance. Also, try unplugging the laptop a listening to sound. If it is better you have a ground issue with your power source.

Sound is noy hear

check to see that the sound is not muted, see the little speaker icon in the system tray on the lower left hand side of your windows desktop on the task bar. try to increase the volume.

if not go to control panel, sounds and audio devices, there on the volume tab, if it grayed out then you need to reinstall the sound drivers , if not just increase the volume.
