Transferring Win 7 from laptop to external

You cant do that. The only thing I have seen and tried is to create an image of Windows 7 on a thumb drive, and it was not an easy task.
I suggest to get an external DVD drive, plug it into the PC and install. . . . . . . . Hey wait a minute!, I just noticed "my PC has a DVD player only". if its a DVD player and not a CD player, it will read the Windows 7 DVD, you may have to change the Boot Priority setting for the PC to boot from DVD before booting from the hard drive.

How to install Windows 7 from a .iso without burning onto a DVD

proxy?url=http%3a%2f%2f1.bp.blogspot.com%2f_uu-faylkkn4%2fs5sjwgyglri%2faaaaaaaaih0%2fwwn5u85pula%2fs400%2fwindows7_logo.jpg&container=focus&gadget=a&rewritemime=image%2f*&refresh=31536000 Windows 7 doesnot allow you to install off the same Hard Disk. But if you didn't want to burn the .iso image of Windows 7 that you downloaded to a new DVD - you can still install it off the .iso file by using the method below.
You will need a portable hard disk / pen drive though.
Incase, you have a portable hard disk or a pen drive - do the following : 1. Get WinRar (www.rarlabs.com) and install the software on your machine. WinRar is similar to winzip but supports many other formats including .iso. 2. Extract the .iso of Win7 to your pen drive / portable hard disk. Place the extracted files into the root of the drive - your other data can be put into folders. 3. Restart your laptop and hold F9 / F2 to enter into boot-menu which gives you a choice to load from. Here select your pen-drive / portable hard disk - usually a USB device.
Done - that's all it takes. You can now go ahead with the normal install process.

I purchase a storage unit contients thru auction and it contained a Dell 1735 laptop however, it has a BIOS password. Does anyone know how to disable ?

How to remove the lost MASTER password.

It can be done but to tell all how to do it will remove the security of a password as it is confidential information supplied under agreement with the manufacturer and his agent.
Take it to your dealer, he can do it without any problem.

Or try this link:

You should notice in your cd tray a smaller cutout in the center. That is specifically for mini cds.

Since Philips has sold their name and US product lines to the junk dealer Funai, it might be available under their name now.
You could also purchase an external drive to expand your possibilities; they are on eBay for ~ $50 US.

New PC not accepting mini DVD-R disc

I've had a look at the Acer Aspire X1200 in a photo and it seems to stand upright with the dvd drive coming out sideways. There is no real groove on the inside of the disc tray to keep the mini DVD-R disc held in place.  There may be a way to remove the stand that holds it upright. Then turn it on the side that you lean it on. That would be the way it would have to sit permenantly by the looks of it. If the stand doesn't come off then I'd suggest just turning it on it's side anyway, not ideal but it will read the disk. I dont think there is anything else you could do to make it read the disc whilst standing up, I'm afraid.

ATAPI DVD A DH16A1L not reading blank dvd's

This is a firmware issue that I am also having the same problem with. The only real solution is to purchase a new drive temporarily, since the DH16A1L firmware update is precariously a "Vista Only" update. If you have XP or Windows 7, you are SOL, thanks to the lovely folks at HP.

This was my business' last purchase of any HP hardware, we have had enough of the fried laptop mobos and issues as such. I hope everyone follows suit
