SOURCE: Hi, I've got the asus p5n-em hdmi motherboard but

If it won't see any moniter then it's turned off in BIOs or it's dead. which means you will have to go to BIOS and turn on the built in video adapter by pressing DEL when booting up and going into BIOS and settings and turn on built in VGA Video or buy a new AGP or PCI 2.0 Grafics card and turn off the on board video.

Hi bain_j,

your motherboard has a slot for this. I have encircled the slot on the picture I have attached. Also I checked and the current Power Supply that came in with your HP Pavilion will not be able to support the card. You would need to get a new power supply unit preferably around 600 watts and with a PCIE 6-pin power. I hope this helps. Please let me know.

your motherboard is not a 64-bit board so it cannot support the windows 7 64-bit version. you should get the 32-bit version or upgrade your ram and then your windows should be able to read your onboard video.

SOURCE: can we run gtx 550

Yes, it will run just fine, only that the video card is way more powerful than the board so it will be slowed down - you won't see any difference compared to a weaker card.

Hey guys. Built a new computer and decided to add a video card instead of using the onboard video. Bought an EVGA Geforce GTX570 SC 1280MB GDDR5. Pretty sweet. But I cant get it to work. Got the...

Hello, Your on-board vga is still active and by default your computer will use this for displaying graphics. You will need to disable it to use your new card or change priority so that it searches for an external display first. To do this restart your computer, go into the bios and turn it off or change priority. Refer to your computer manual for the proper location of this setting.
Please bear in mind that some systems do not give you the option of disabling your on-board vga. I believe this is to allow you to still use your computer should the external vga fail.

Hope this helps, thanks for using FixYa
