Question about HP LaserJet 3030 All-In-One Printer

Bad printing quality

The printing is working, but the output looks like I am using a not-so-clean paper. Lots of duplications, very light though, are full of the paper. I took out the cartridge and gave it a good shake, and re-started printer and PC, it doesn't make any difference.

The letter printed out is readable, but the quality is not accetable to send out.

Any help will be much appreciated.

When the print window opens, click on properties, make sure it's not set to "Quick", which can cause light and blotchy prints.

I have been told my printhead is malfunctioning. Can I clean it myself?


You can look in thr user guide or printer help for Troubleshooting and Routine Manteinance.Make sure that the Printer Driver or Paper Type setting in the menu matches the
type of paper you are using. (See Printing in the Software User's Guide on the CDROM.Make sure that your ink cartridges are fresh. The following may cause ink to clog The expiration date written on the cartridge package has passed. (Cartridges
stay usable for up to two years if kept in their original packaging.) The ink cartridge was in your machine over six months.The ink cartridge may not have been stored properly before use.
Try using the recommended types of paper.
CLEANING:
Press Ink.
Press a or b to choose Cleaning.
Press OK.
Press a or b to choose Black, Color
or All.
Press OK.
The machine cleans the print head.
When cleaning is finished, the machine
will go back to standby mode
automatically.

Checking the print quality
If faded or streaked colors and text appear on
your output, some of the nozzles may be
clogged. You can check this by printing the
Print Quality Check Sheet and looking at the
nozzle check pattern.
Press Ink.
Press a or b to choose Test Print.
Press OK.
Press a or b to choose
Print Quality.
Press OK.
Press Color Start.
The machine begins printing the Print
Quality Check Sheet.
Check the quality of the four color blocks
on the sheet.
Is Quality OK?
1.Yes 2.No
Do one of the following:
If all lines are clear and visible, press
1 to choose Yes, and go to step j.
If you can see missing short lines as
shown below, press 2 to choose No.
The LCD asks you if the print quality is
OK for black and three colors.

On my Test Pattern 2 the blue/light blue and green/yeallow have steeks in it. The documents that I print have streaks going across the page. I've cleaned everythign I can clean. The printer has 6,251...


SolutionFollow the given steps in the order presented to resolve the issue: Step one: Retry the print jobThe problem may occur only rarely. If you have not seen it in other printouts, try again. Step two: Increase the print quality modeIf reprinting did not help, try increasing the print quality mode.
  1. In the application you are printing from, click File , and then click Print .
  2. Make sure the printer is selected, and then click Properties .
  3. Select the Paper/Quality tab.
  4. In the Print Quality area, choose the next higher quality setting. If the current setting is Draft, choose Normal. If the current setting is Normal, choose Best.
Step three: Print in grayscale (black area streaking only) If the streaks are in a black area of a black and white printout, change to grayscale printing.
NOTE: This step does not apply to color printouts.
  1. In the application you are printing from, click File , and then click Print .
  2. Make sure the printer is selected and click Properties .
  3. Click the Color tab, and select Print Grayscale and High Quality .
Step four: Clean the printheadsIf the print quality is still bad, clean the printheads.
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Open HP Solution Center .

  3. Click Calibrate Advanced Linefeed . The Advanced Linefeed Calibration window opens. Click OK .
Step seven: Replace one or both printheads If the print quality is still bad after performing all the above steps, one or both of the printheads will have to be replaced. Print a PQ Diagnostic page to see which printhead should be replaced.
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Press the Setup button.
  3. Press 1 and * simultaneously.
  4. Look at the color blocks labeled Test Pattern 2. Some or all of them could show white horizontal streaks. If none of the blocks are streaked, the printheads are okay.
    • If the Black block has lines – replace the KY printhead.
    • If the Cyan block has lines – replace the MC printhead.
    • If the Magenta block has lines – replace the MC printhead.
    • If the Red block has lines – replace the KY printhead.
    • If the Green block has lines – replace the KY printhead.

Bad streaking on print xerox 8550 phaser tried the troubleshooting feature/eliminate light stripes with no luck


The best way to tell if your problem is clogged jets, or bad maintenance kit, or something blocking jets. Is to look at light stripes test, and see if missing jets are all in a straight row or all over the place. If the missing jets number less that 10 you can use jet substitution to avoid the streaks. If you are using Media Sciences or some other after market ink, check that most of your problems are not in the cyan area. Media Sciences produced a bad batch of cyan which clogged the jets pretty bad. The good news is that if their ink caused the problem they will pay for some one to come out and replace your printhead. If you LST (Light stripes test) has a smear the entire vertical lenght of the page. You have either a bad maintenance kit, or a piece of paper, lable etc..rubbing against the drum while printing

The resolution on a monitor is 72 dots per inch. The resolution on paper is about 300 dots per inch. What looks good on a screen often looks bad in print. The picture you are printing is probably saved at a resolution which looks good on the screen but not on paper.

are you using the right quality paper and are the printing settings adjusted correctly? If your printer is set for photo quality paper and you are using plain paper or vice verse, you wont get good results.

*please clean cartridges with the automatic system.
*Tried auto alignment setting
*Try to clean nozzles of cartridges by humid (wet) fabrics.

please try all the steps for the problem to be solved.

Can't figure out how to adjust darkness/tone for printer output


Hi,
Below you can see a step by step procedure on how to change the print quality of your work....you need to make test printouts in order for you to see the results....at the end there is a link to the manual for your printer...GOOD LUCK!!!

Print-quality settings affect print resolution and toner usage.
Use the following procedure to change print-quality settings:
1. Open the printer Properties (or Printing Preferences in Windows 2000 and XP).
2. On the Paper/Quality tab or the Finishing tab (the Paper Type/Quality tab for some Mac drivers),
select the print quality setting you want to use. The following options are available:
● 1200 dpi: This setting uses ProRes 1200 to provide fine-line detail at 1200 x 1200 dpi.
● 1200 dpi effective output quality: This setting provides 1200 dpi effective output quality
using FastRes 1200.
● 600 dpi: This setting provides 600 x 600 dpi output with Resolution Enhancement technology
(REt) for improved text.
● EconoMode: Text is printed using less toner. This setting is useful when you are printing
drafts. You can turn on this option independently of other print-quality settings.

Color and black gets shadow on print out


Go to the printer Setup button, hit Ok, then look for Print Quality, acess print quality and go to calibrate colors, run this calibration for 3 times.
Then go to services and run a 2 cleaning modes
You can try printing blank pages selecting "cardstock" as paper type to clean the fuser

It is time to clean or change something?


Best printer I have ever owned!!!!!
In your HP toolbox Icon on desktop/start menu or typically located via web browser at: http://localhost:3910/ you can select troubleshooting tools to try using a cleaning page This has worked for me. This process cleans the paper path. You may have to run this 2 times if it is really bad.
Facts about laser printers: you need DRY paper for best print quality. laser paper is reccomended. as toner sticks to it better

Use this process to maintain optimum print quality. See the user guide for more information.
1. Click the "Print" button to print out the Cleaning Page. 2. Remove the Cleaning Page from the output bin, and load it printed side down in Tray 1. 3. Click the "Clean" button to complete the cleaning process. (Note: You may also need to press the "GO" button on the device.)

Clean the paper path and print-cartridge areas every time that the print cartridge is changed or whenever print-quality problems occur. As much as possible, keep the printer from dust and debris. Cleaning the outsideback to top of page Clean the outside of the printer with a cloth that has been dampened with water. NOTE: Do not use ammonia-based cleaners on or around the printer. Cleaning the paper path and print-cartridge areasback to top of page Over time, particles of toner and paper accumulate inside the printer. This can cause print-quality problems during printing. Cleaning the printer eliminates or reduces these problems. Use the following steps to clean the paper path and print-cartridge areas: 1. Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord. 2. Open the top cover. Figure 1: Top cover opened example 3. Remove the print cartridge. Figure 2: Print cartridge removed example CAUTION: To prevent damage to the print cartridge, do not expose it to light for more than a few minutes.Be careful not to touch the transfer roller (the black, rubber roller located underneath the print cartridge). Plug in the power cable and turn on the printer. Cleaning the fuserback to top of page Run the printer cleaning page to keep the fuser free of toner and paper particles that can sometimes accumulate. Accumulation of toner and particles can cause specks to appear on the front or back side of print jobs. To ensure optimum print quality, HP recommends using the cleaning page every time that the print cartridge is replaced or on an automatic pre-established interval. The cleaning procedure takes about 2.5 minutes to complete. A message (either CREATING CLEANING PAGE or CLEANING) appears on the printer control panel display while the cleaning is taking place. NOTE: Use plain paper to print the cleaning page. Please note that this is a two-step process.
