Trailing of discolouration when mouse moved

I hooked up a new LCD to my old PIII PC and got a trailing of discoloured pixels whenever I move my mouse. It will only clear when a new window is opened over it. Could it be power supple problem?

Screen won't work on new computer

Reconnect the old monitor.
Start Windows.
Right-mouse click anywhere on your "wallpaper".
Click Properties.
Click Settings.
Move the slider to 800-by-600 or 1024-by-768.
Click Apply
In 'Advanced', set the refresh-rate to 60 Hertz.
Click OK.
Shutdown.
Reconnect the new monitor.
Restart your computer.
Right-mouse click anywhere on your "wallpaper".
Click Properties.
Click Settings.
Now try moving the slider to higher values.
If the screen goes blank, wait 15 seconds, and Windows will cancel your change to a higher value.

LCD monitor not working right

This is 2004 model, it may not be worth putting money and time into repairing a 15" monitor. But you can at least look inside for any damaged, burnt components, lose connections, etc. otherwise to do a component level repair at the shop will not be worth it.

Colour is discolour but wire move colour is ok

Sounds like the video card or the port that is connected to the video card. Make sure that the wire is firmly attached and that the video card is firmly seated.

Check the VGA plug and lead between the monitor and computer.

Does it get worse or better while you move the lead around?

CRT discoloured

If it's a deguass problem, you can glue some very small magnets to the sides of the crt tube itself, it could be the shadow mask, inside the monitor, and if it is then nothing will fix it, if you can get a deguass coil from somewhere that would tell the story real quickly
