Question about Audio Players & Recorders

7 Answers

I have a Philips WAC700 Stremium wireless audio system with two remote stations WAS700. One of the stations will no longer connect to the centre - as soon as it is switched on there is a message which reads 'connecting to centre...' and it gets no further. It will not allow me to select 'menu' in order to restore factory settings which would enable me to re-install it. What should I do?

I need to reset the factory settings - but the station will not let me into the menu. Is there any way of doing this?

  • Ozzywells Nov 25, 2008

Great! Your suggestion is 'call the manufacturer!' I could have done that in the first place but chose to try Fixya rather than using Philips premium rate lines. Now I shall have to do that as well as paying you. What a great way for you to make money. I think I shall set up a website to tell people what they already know and charge them!

Hey ozzywells,
I think the other technician only suggested this because the other posts did not seem to have helped you any. Here at Fixya can only talk you through troubleshooting issues. If there is a genuine hardware problem that needs to be replaced, we cannot do that here. I am sure she, and we here at Fixya, are not trying to make you pay more than you want to.

✔ Check you have placed the Center and Station
side by side on a flat and firm surface
✔ Check you have connected the Center to power
supply
✔ When adding a new station, check your center is
in Installation mode (See HD, Station
management
)
✔ Turn off the wireless router nearby if there is
difficulty in connecting your Center and Station.
If you are playing the set, stop playback and take
the appropriate measures as follows:
✔ Keep the Center or Station at least 3 meters
away from such devices.
✔ Use the WEP key when connecting your
Center and Station to an existing wireless PC
network. Refer to the owner’s manual of your
router and Option 2 in Connect to your
PC.
✔ Change the operating channel of your Center
and Station when connecting them to an existing
wireless PC network. To learn about how to
change channels, see the manual Connect to
your PC.
✔ If possible, change the operating channels of
the other Wi-Fi devices at your home.
✔ Turn the devices in different directions to
minimize interference.
✔ Check your plasma TV is turned off
✔ Check you have placed two IR operated devices
( Station) in separate rooms wherever possible.

And if u find that ur issue has been resolved satisfactorily, do click this post as "Fixya' as this is the only way i wld be paide fr my services,

Take Care.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, you may want to check if there are any possible RFI (radio frequency interference) sources within the immediate vicinity of one of the WAS700 remote stations. RI sources may include (but not be limited to) WiFi routers, wireless phones, electronic ballasts, lamp dimmers, garage openers, alarm systems and others of the likes. Additionally, you can try using a different outlet or try the remote station a little closer and slowly moving away. Some construction materials and house wiring system may also not provide blocks for proper operations.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Try a hard reset or unplug from the mains for an extended period to revert the unit(s) back to factory default.

Below is a direct link to the troubleshooting guide for your receiver from Philips Electronics' official website. This should prove to be most helpful, as the first option on the menu pertains to getting the station to connect to your center. What's further, this troubleshooting tutorial is in video format with voice instructions and step-by-step screenshots to help walk you through each possibility. Hope this proves to be quite helpful and also hope that you'll rate me accordingly, if it's not too much of a hassle. Thanks and have yourself a nice night!

How to connect philips shd8900 HiFi wireless headphones to an 5.1 amplifier

Look at the manual.

http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/s/shd8900_10/shd8900_10_dfu_eng.pdf

It only accepts stereo input. Your unnamed 5.1 system will determine what it has for headphone or Line Level stereo outputs.

I just got a multimedia surround system with subwoofer.Spa7650/05, 180w.The subwoofer has three audio connections, front, centre and rear,My tv only has an audio coaxial.I can't connect it.What adapter...

Hello,
Firs of all lets get agree on something..The subwoofer has three audio connections for "output " to :front, centre and rear speakers...these are not for "input"..Your powered SUB provides necessary signal for other spekers..
You can connect TV audio coaxial to SUB input with a RCA cable.....if your SUB does not have "RCA input " probably it should have "3,5mm Haedphone female Jack"..
if this is the case you need to buy a cable ; one end 3,5mm MALE headphone jack and the other end 2xRCA stereo (or 1x RCA for mono or you may need "Y cable " ) to be connected to your TV...
And you need to connect front, centre and rear speakers to your SUB as well...
Take care and if it succeeds please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up
for Helping out the Community :)

Hope this helps!

How do you connect an ipod or mp3 to the waC700 wireless music centre?

Anything that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to any audio device with a standard RCA input. Get a cable like the one described here:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=665&seq=1&format=2

and connect it into any available analog input EXCEPT "Phono". Turn the MP3 player volume up.
