Re: samsung hard drive problem
Is that your first disc or your second (slave), if it is an ATA disc did u changed the jumper on the disk?
If it is an sata disc no need to change jumpers.
Sata or ATA it dosent matter, you need to manage the disc manuell.
Rightclick on "my computer"
a bit down on the next menu you will see "Disc management"
klick on that one
now you will see all your discs, even the disc you cant see in "my copmputer"
You now need to formate and give the disc a name (letter), like F or G or watever letter you want thats free.
After done that you will see your new disc under "My Computer"

you have done the right thing by cleaning the dust from your computers fans you should continue cleaning the dust from your computer as dust will cause static which can cause a computer lots of unforseen problems the beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active untill turned off. make sure that your RAM is securely seated test or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive make sure the connections are secure including electrical extensions + IDE,SATAthe ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive)) make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ? hope this helps keep up the good work
The reason why it's making noise is the hard disk is failing. Hard disks are composed of mechanical parts and is prone to wear and tear. I greatly recommend that you get another hard disk instead. There's no way to fix it unfortunately and you don't want to lose any files saved if you continue using it.

When a hard drive makes a clicking noise, this indicates the hard drive has failed and if the BIOS and the Computer Management does not detect it, then this confirm a hard disk failure. To get the computer operating again, replace the hard disk, then install Windows on the hard disk using the Windows installation CD and the Windows product installation code that is on the label on the computer then install the device drivers and your programs.
I the HDD is still brand new, then it has to be formatted by the PC, install the HDD do the following...
1. Right Click My Computer, click on Manage
2. Go to Disk Manager on the left
3. Your disk should be listed there, right click on it on the right hand side of the screen, create partition, then you need to format the hdd, then you can use the disk, If it doesn't detect the HDD when you want to install windows, then you must, change your SATA setting in the Bios to IDE mode, Try it out and let me know, got some more solutions that you can try if that doesn't work
hello, go into the bios and set the sata+ide (hard-drive settings) configure it for bolth. exit and save settings-and it should reboot and see all drives. hope this helps! goodluck. please don't forget to rate this solution. if you need further help, reply. (f2 in post gets ito bios if you don't have the manual, be careful if you do not know what you are doing, you could make it worse) check cables+power.
Hi Eamon, download Samsungs drive setup utility, tools from Samsungs web site. Creat a bootable floppy drive setup disk or a CD bootable disk. http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/support/utilities/ES_Tool.html
Enable the SMART function using the setup software.
If you are going to use the Samsung drive as the primary master drive as the new C:\ you will need to enter the bios & set the Hard Disk Boot Priority, page 30 in you're manual to see the Samsung drive.
Connect only the Samsung into the system. Boot the system & use Samsung's software to setup the drive & format.
Disconnect any other hard disk drives that may have windows installed in it.
