Question about Televison & Video

I am tryin to connect my Phillips HTS3011/05 home cinema system to my Technika LCD32-207 tv. It works fine if i watch a dvd, but it doesnt work when i play my Xbox 360 through its HD cable, or watch normal tv. I was wondering if you guys knew the correct sockets i needed to connect wires to, in order to be able to use the speakers on the xbox and TV, not just DVD's? Thanks!!!

Im not sure if it has an output port. Its just got loads or sockets in the back! Never seen so many! But yeah, i cant get it to work at all with my xbox. Quite annoying, as it worked fine with my old tv, but i dropped it and it broke, so i went out and spoilt myself with a lcd hdtv one! As my old was was just a normal one. Complicated huh! ha!

    Thanks though!

Projection TV. DVD works. Cable often seems, "untuned". Static & un-fine-tuned sound of channel with black screen. Then, later, it will come on just fine. Sometimes, will go back to untuned status.

I would suspect your cable box first. I would unplug the power cable from your cable box and wait 60 seconds. Plug it back in and try to watch cable tv. I would also make sure the coaxial cable going from the wall to your cable box is connected properly. I would also make sure the cable going from the cable box to the tv is connected properly. Test your tv and see if it works correctly when you watch cable. If this fixes the issue you are good to go.
  • If this makes no difference use a set of new cables if you have them.
  • If this does not work then call your cable company. They may have to replace your cable box.

I have just hooked up a dvd player to the TV, and we watched it one time just fine. Now when we try to watch a DVD we just get an audio sound for about 2 seconds, and then nothing at all. There is no...

have you attempted a different video source into the TV (Gaming system, another DVD player, Reciever)?
The issue may be that the cables you are using may be old, and are severely damaged. inside of those cables is a standard RG-59 Coaxial Line that is extremely flimsie.
try and use separate cables or a separate input.
If the input change works, is most likely the switchboard on your TV (Hardware) and will need to be serviced. Another option to use is a Video switch ($35USD), and not pay $300+ for system repairs.

Connect to dvd player

On the back panel of your tv you will see two audio inputs labeled AUDIO TO HI-FI. Plug your surround sound audio jacks, ( red and white ) into that. Plug your video jack ( yellow ) into what ever number input you are going to use for dvd, if needed. This will allow you to watch tv and hear it in your surround sound. You should also go to menu- then- audio option and turn off your tv internal speakers, this will allow your tv remote to control your volume of surround sound. Hope this helped.

How do i get the sound from my Philips TV into my samsung 2.1 home cinema system?

Hi,

To get sound from any TV (including Philips) to an amplifier or a home cinema system, the TV should have a LINE OUT RCA pair. Thereafter, it is a simple case of connecting said Line OUt to one of the INPUTs of the cinema system.

Often (but not all), Cinema Systems have their own TV tuner and would provide a video out that could be connected to the Video IN of the TV.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Having just bought a Panasonic TX-37LZD80 television and a panasonic sc-pt460EB-K home cinema system, I connected the 2 together using a HDMI Cable and all works well except that I cannot get the sound...

When I purchased the television iI was told that I would only need a HDMI cable to connect the devices together, this is not true as the HDMI only provides 1 way transmission, to get the sound to go from the television back to the home cinema you need to use either a Phono Lead or Optical lead, plug them in and Hey Presto it works.

Connecting a Samsung HT-Z310 home cinema to a Series 5 Samsung TV and Games consoles, will only work with DVD currently. How do I get the cinema system to work for TV and consoles?

Do you have an Optical Audio cable going from the A/V receiver to the TV? If not, you need to get one. Since the HT-Z310 only has HDMI output and no input there is not audio bypass. Once you connect an Optical Audio cable from the receiver to the TV, anything that goes through the TV (cable audio, PS3 or Xbox 360, DVDs, Radio) will go through the receiver, too.
