I want to add a DVD recorder into my TV set up

I want to add a DVD recorder (with a tuner which will receive freeview channels) into a tv set up which has a Sony Bravia TV.
How do I connect the DVD so that I can take advantage of the fact that the TV is HD ready but also has a built in freeview?
Do I connect the DVD to the external aerial and then connect the TV through an HDMI connection? Or do I split the aerial so that one goes into the DVD and the other into the TV?
If I split the aerial how do I connect the DVD to the TV?

If I'm right On the DVD recorder there should be an aerial input and an output. Connect external aerial to the output then run a second from the output to the TV. Then use the HDMI to connect the DVD. This will then give you the option of recording one channel on the DVD whilst watching another thru the receiver thats built into the TV. You will then get the best poss picture when viewing DVD

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

What is the best converter box to use with toshiba regza 42hl67 flat screen tv?

As far as I can make out, this Toshiba model is made for the US market so doesn't actually have a freeview tuner. It will only receive satellite and cable HD signals and local US TV, all of which has to be bought. You need to get something like an August DVB400 - HD Freeview Set Top Box -Digital PVR Tuner with USB TV Recording, eBay would be best I think, where they are sold for under £30.00. The tuner packed up on my 32" Regza so I bought one of these and it works fine. Plus you can record to a USB stick if you don't want to miss a programme. Hope this helps ......BS

Have just retuned digital terrestrial receiver Matsui DTR -2 for our area, how do I now record tv programmes with my Bush VCR925NSILXI? On analogue TV the recording channel was Channel 9

Recording, amazingly, has nothing to do with your TV, it only monitors the playback or recording input of your VCR or DVD recorder - the Channel 9 you mention.
They have their own tuners, indeed DVD recorders have Freeview (or DTV) tuners so no need for a separate box at all - given that your TV has a DTV tuner too and if a recent flat screen type it will.
If you can afford it, this is a good time to drop VHS and get a DVD recorder. You'll find plenty on Amazon Electronics for a start.
Your Bush VCR will be redundant the moment the analogue service goes off, they haven't made a VHS VCR with a DTV tuner.
Depending on your area this is a few months off, even for the last area to change over anyway, here in London there's just shy of nine months left.

I have an LCD HDTV BLA. I have Freeview and

Hi.

If you are using an external freeview box you need an HD box (See available products).

If you have an LCD TV with built-in HD tuner (TV will say HD Ready and will have internal tuner), then you can use the TV internal tuner.

The best way to get HD is via satellite. Althought HD Freeview is theoretically available since end 2009 I have not been able to receive any HD channel using Freeview tuner, and I live in a London area where HD FV is supposed to be available since 2010.
Even with Free Sat the choice is poor. You get steadily only BBC HD, where at most you can watch some documentary or drama series (it is a kind of sample channel). ITV HD, BBC1 HD and the rest frequencies on Astra change Sat quite often. I am a TV technician and the sat tuning job is not difficult to me but retuning every month was still an awful waste of time.At the end I gave up and I only watch HD through Sky.

At the end of the day the only efficient way to receive HD TV is still through Virgin or Sky.

Trying to record tv onto the hard drive, unit is set up as a dvd player, i.e. through the av functions, and not used as the tv tuner itself. Do I configure it as the tv tuner to record tv?

In order to record TV the unit needs to recieve the TV signal. The aerial can be plugged into the unit and then looped to the TV. This allows the TV to receive channels at the same time. You can therefore record one channel while watching another. The AV connections still need to be used to view the output from the unit.

I have an Alba 32880hdf freeview tv. I cannot record freeview programmes to my panasonic NV-FJ 780 vcr which has 2 scart sockets. I have no problem recording the teresteral channels. Can you help pls

Hi Victor,

You can't record the Freeview channels from the TV. It doesn't work that way. The reason you can still record terrestrial channels is because the VCR is still connected to your roof aerial with a co-axial cable and the VCR has its own built-in analogue tuner for recording terrestrial TV programmes.

To record the digital Freeview channels, you will either need to connect a separate Freeview set-top box to the VCR, or buy a VCR which has a built-in digital (DVB-T) tuner.

The VCR does not record programmes from the TV. It needs to be connected directly to the signal source, i.e. your aerial.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

BElectric

I have a Grundig TV P37-080GB or G.CG61-02GBM bought in UK. Using Auto Tuning I can find local TV channels but the audio to each of these channels does not work. I get a hissing sound as gets when not...

Hi.

If you are using the TV in UK, and you are using the internal digital tuner (aerial cable to TV), then the TV may be defective (faulty tuner or audio circuit). In that case call Grundig at the number listed on manual.
If TV is using an external digi box (eg. freeview), then check connection from box to TV, test using a different connection cable. Test using a DVD, if TV works on DVD replace the digi box.

If you are trying to use the TV outside UK, and you are using the internal digital tuner, then there may be a problem with signal. In that case purchase a tuner box and connect it to the TV.

Is it possible to tune the channels of an integrated freeview digital box within a tv to a recordable dvd player

No!

However, i see what your trying to accomplish - being able to record the freeview pictures you recieve form the Sony inbuilt tuner onto the recorder.. whilst being able to watch a different channel..?!

Well, you cant. If your Recorder has an inbuilt digital tuner then of course this would solve your issues, whereas if it is purely an analouge recorder and your in an area that has switched over then youll need some new hardware unfortunatly,.

How do i retune my samsung tv,now that all freeview tvs had to be retuned the other day. please tell me wat to do via teh remote control

You may lose some channels when you retune the TV as the channels have been rearranged. To locate them look at the EPG although you may still find that some channels are no longer available on FREEVIEW. See the following link for additional information

http://www.freeview.co.uk/_retuneinfo/

If the above process does not work then check the link above for additional information and also visit the accompanying site links below to find more information for your model of TV / FREEVIEW box.

I have a Maxim 15" Portable LCD TV with built in DVB-T Tuner.

It has worked well for 2 years.
Now when you switch it on set to DTV
Starts to reload the channels
Once it has found 90 channels it moves to Add and will not add any.
There are no stored channels from the built in freeview.
However we still have the normal 4 on ATV.
Any advice.
