Question about Refrigerators

2 Answers

We have a Westinghouse WSE6100SA - side by side fridge freezer. Still under warranty. The repair guys have been twice now to temp fix the freezer, to no avail. the freezer is not freezing or I should say it stops freezing because the vent where the air flows through block with solid ice and when the defrosting cycle starts(warm air is pumped through the freezer) it doesnt stop and all the food defrosts. The purchaser, Repairer and Westinghouse/Electrolux are not fulfilling their warranty obligations... Please help

The service guys have done a full defrost on the unit 3 times already. I never really kept it full and now I'm down to a loaf of bread and a couple of packets of meat. I'm afraid to use it, as it is doing this every couple of weeks now. The service guys are stumped and are waiting to hear back from Westinghouse/Electrolux(Australia). The fridge temp is at 3 deg cel and the freezer is at -19 deg cel... After the defrosting procedure the freezer is good for 2 weeks then it just doesnt freeze anymore. the servicing is just a temp fix at the moment. It would be good to have a freezer again... Cheers

This could also be an issue with simply too much food in the fridge blocking some of the air channels or that there are containers in there which are uncovered which contribute to high humidity in the box.The unit may also be left open too much.
Before blaming the manufacturer/servicer...let's look at the usage cycle.  This ice is coming from somewhere!  Do a full defrost of the unit.  Keep it closed after loading in food.  What is the temperature in the box?  40F in the fridge and 0 F in the freezer is about right.  Use an outdoor thermometer and check after an hour of closed door.

Sound like the air supply baffel is the problem / or if the lower air vent is freezing over then the water is building due to icemaker / the water overflows on the inlet water fill tube to the icemaker and running down the inside behind the panel / they can take the fill tube from a ge icemaker kit and cut it in half and slide over the tube thats in your frig and it will keep it from running over / a problem wgi has had for awhile now / if you havent call sears i would since they should know the same.

Bought Bush fridge freezer 13 months ago. fridge broke down twice with same problem. defrost timer. Can i complain to bush

you can ask again for it to be looked at repaired
even if it is out of warranty
fixed twice during warranty period (for free i hope )

if point of sale will not refund or repair or replace fridge freezer

you will need lots of paper work receipts of repairs and calls and conversations made etc etc
then you have to take the company /manufacturer of the bush fridge freezer to small claims court and try to get money back

Hi Vince,

Thanks for the posting in FIXYA.

Please repair the Freezer door as it is not sealing, due to which cooling is affected. If it is under warranty then contact to the manufacturer as soon as possible.

Regards
ELLIN

New Westinghouse fridge cannot seem to adjust freezer lower than 0' except if power freeze on getting colder ?

read the user manual or get a technician out under warranty
from 10 down to 0 on a fridge is getting colder with the smaller numbers
with a freezer 0 to 10 gets colder as the numbers get bigger

My Westinghouse fridge freezer, model WSE6100SF, was affected by a power cut lasting 3 days. It now smells, but not inside. Is there a drip tray under the fridge that collects the water?

yes there is but most are not removeable.... remove the cover in the rear of the fridge, the pan is located around the fan motor that's underneath the fridge... I would try pinesol, bleach or odoban to kill the smell..... good luck

How do you remove the back of a wse6100sa refrigerator

The problem is the control for the fresh food section that controls the damper door controlling airflow. You have 2 controls 1 is the freezer control the other is the refrigerator contrl. The ref. 1 is the culprit.

Fridge freezer not cooling

(bad news) Repair man came today and said the compressor has died ;- (

(good news) Westinghouse will replace compressors less than 5 years old with a new one, just ring them with your serial number (inside front door) or supply a receipt and you only have to pay for the labour ;-)
