I have exactly the same with the nc8000.
Screen is black, LEDS on, fan on, after 10 s all off.
It falls on the floor some days before, the problem after starting 10 times it comes to boot windows then all off and the same again. May this have to do with bios+battery fail?

Try to open the battery and connect your laptop to adaptor, then try to switch it on again. If nothing improves then there could be motherboard issue

My laptop won't turn on. What do I do?

A good place to start would be to take the battery out and disconnect the ac charger. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Replace the battery and/or ac charger, press the power button. Also see if your ac charger has a light on it to indicate power. Take note if anything lights on on the laptop and/or hear any fans spinning. That will help you jump to the next troubleshooting step.

Elite book 2640 blue light light on,yellow light flashing, screen blank

yellow light sounds like charge indication. If you press the power botton the fan should spin and you should be able to open the DVD by pressing the button on the tray. These are 1st steps to check motherboard function. If there is RAM installed remove battery after turning off power supply.Open memory door and reseat RAM.Replace cover then battery - power on.Any picture?Try an LCD monitor - no picture? Try different RAM or 1 stick at a time, remember to remove battery or RAM will be damaged.Still no picture - remove battery and try with AC adapter only.Still no picture - remove AC hold down power button for 30-sec plug in AC only and press power button.Still no picture - check CMOS battery if it uses a CR2032 button cell it may be flat. This can cause a no boot situation. If the CMOS has a plug or is soldered to the board that should be OK.The button cell may be hidden in the chassis anyway and to change it will require disassembly. So replace it when doing the cleaning.Still no picture - GPU is faulty. The unit should be disassembled and a reflow of GPU done,as well as cleaning all dust and fluff from the fan and other cooling system components.Airflow restriction of the cooling system is the cause of overheating and GPU issues.Google disassembly for your laptop and reflow method for GPU.If you have no experience with disassembly a step by step guide is crucial.Breaking parts is easy so extreme care is very important.

Basically i plugged in the ac adapter to it, pressed the power button and the power light comes on for 2-3 seconds then the power light shuts off. lcd screen never turned on or show anything, fan never...

>>> Please leave feedback so I can continue helping You & Others

The middle blue led is the charging indicator, sounds like you have (at least) a bad battery, remove it, plug in AC and try again, if no good, remove the HD and repeat, if no good, remove/replace the ram and repeat, if still no good, your mainboard is cooked.

When I press the power button on my studio 1555 nothing happens. I have tried with and without the battery plugged in. I am so confused as to why it isn't turning on. over the past week it has been a bit...

It could be a mechanical failure of the button in the hinge assembly.
It could also be that the AC adapter wasn't working and the system was powering off battery till batter died.
Are there any power indications on the system? (Battery LED with AC Adapter connected?) If there are power indications then the power button seems to be the possible fault.
If no power indications, try a different AC adapter

My nc6000 powered off and now wont power on. the blue wireless light and power light come on for 20 seconds or so and you can hear the laptop starting fans etc and then it powers off

I believe it may be a problem with the motherboard.
So do one thing...........Disconnect the ac adapter, then take out the battery and then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. This would drain the static electricity from the computer. Then connect the battery and the ac adapter and try to power on the notebook. In case it does not power on....Then again remove the adapter and battery and this time very carefully with a phillips screw driver open the hard drive and the ram compartment and reseat the same and then again connect every thing back and check if the notebook powers on.If it does go to BIOS screen by tapping F10 and then press F9 and the enter key and F10 and enter key this will do BIOS default. And then go to internet and to Hp's website and download the latest BIOS for your computer.

But in case if your note book does not turn on then cobntact HP
Thank you..

Acer Aspire 5920 will not boot at all...

The power button may not work, that is most common in laptops, or you have a short.

All I receive is a blinking power light when I press the power button. This occurs whether I have it plugged in or try starting with just the battery. I get know sounds from anything, fan, hard drive,...

Issue can be a mainboard lockup. Please perform full discharge/power cycle

- Unplug AC adapter and all other attachments (If any, such USB drive etc)
- Press and hold the power button about 7-10 seconds
- Put the AC adapter back and turn it on

If issue due to temporary circuit lockup unit will turn on
If issue persist please post more by indicated more symptoms, such as heat, pattern of the blinking light etc.

Good Luck

No response

First follow procedure to try to reset the power.
  1. Unplug the ac adapter. Keep ac adapter unplugged.
  2. Remove the battery and keep the battery unplugged.
  3. Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds. (Nothing will appear on the display and none of the lights will light up.)
  4. Release the power button and plug in the ac adapter ONLY. (Please note that a power indicator light should be lit on the ac adapter when it is plugged in).
  5. Normally power on the notebook.
  6. If the unit does not power on, remove the ac adapter and insert the battery into the system.
  7. Plug the ac adapter back into the system, the battery charging indicator light will light up.
If the battery charging indicator light does not light up, the ac adapter may not be providing proper power to the unit, and may need to be replaced.

Dead DV1000

Appreciate the update.

The bike is a Suzuki Intruder 800 and here in the Philippines it is a really BIG bike considering our Asian height and weight. Like you, it is my daily workhorse. For weekends, I try to remember my younger years onboard a GSX.

Unto your concern. re inverter, technically the inverter is used to power the CCF lamps that provides the backlight of the LCD panel display. if it is not working, at most would be a very very dark desktop, blower fans working, laptop making correct beeping sounds, audio when booting would be heard.

I would initially suspect not a powersupply issue since if there is any, the unit's LEDs will not even lite up.

You may have something on the overheated components (even perhaps the CPU itself). Often fan shutting down indicates that the built-in protection circuitry has just kicked in and shut the system (including the power supply) down to prevent further damage to the other components.

You can still try; no battery AC adapter only, no HD, 1 RAM, and check if you can hear a beeping sound when powered up. If none, then chances are the system is not completely powering on and indicates a major problem. If yes, then that is a good sign, that would mean the BIOS is still working.

Additionally, you can try a can of compressed air to clear any dust or blockage on the fan and/or ventilation holes. Pls determine if any of the large chips are heating up when powered on even if only momentary). this would be an indicator of a defective chipset (and includes the processor itself). I am assuming that the motherboard is bare with the adapter plug in to the power jack.

Incidentally, on some units I've worked on, the unit will not powerup if it can not detect a keyboard present.

As initially queried, have you considered a replacement whole unit? Perhaps your daughter's reservation may be because of some important files which of course can be copied to the HD on the new laptop. In most instances, the cost of a refurb is not that far with the cost of a new motherboard. the plus side is the time element.

Would appreciate further update (if any or even the lack of it).

The Roadstar would be too big a big bike for me (5'4"/135lbs). LOL
