Someone hit the power switch on my ilo, turning it and my cable box completely off. When I turned the tv back on and allowed the cable box to reload, my tv is now stuck in just a black and white picture with no color. please help.
This must be a Samsung controller inside. Samsung controller have trouble finding if signal is ntsc or pal when tv is turn on before the source. If this is the case, just turn off the tv, start the cablebox and power on the tv again.

Try unplugging the TV's power cable from the wall outlet for a minute or two.
Then plug it back in. This will allow the capacitors inside to discharge and then recharge somewhat (you can hear that with the high pitched rising tone when you shut off and turn on this tv), and also 'reset' the power supply due to a power surge or static build-up.
I had the same problems you were having and tried a bunch of things, then finally power cycled the TV (as described above) with great success.
The resolution of that plasma is extremely low, you will gonna have problems viewing even the simplest site an most programs wiil display badly - they need at least 800x600.
But for movies it will work just fine. Use an S-video cable from the video card to the tv and it should be automatically recognized. Configure it like any other tv, just make sure you select its native resolution - 852x480 - for best quality image.
If the fuse burned out the the tv would not turn on at all. When the tv is on is the back light still on? If its not its probably the back light that needs changing. If its on then its one of the circuit boards.
tot2523, your on off switch needs to be replaced. We have one, and we are now on our 2nd repair of the switch. First one blew and now the power switch won't go on. It seems it is a flaw with this t.v. Our t.v. is only 2 years old.....
Go the the settings on the cable box. look for output resolution, then change it to 1080i and 720p. now turn the box off and back on your tv will now display the input of wither 1080i or 720p depending on the hd channel your watching.
Zemus, Do you have the AC cord plugged into the back of your cable box or into a switched outlet? It sounds like your taking the AC power away from the set and it`s going to default mode, The tv will not hold your custom adjustment settings if the AC is taken from the tv, ie; it`s plugged into the back of a cable box and you shut off the cable box when you go to bed. Or in some houses when you turn out the lights it kills the wall receptacle that the tv is plugged into, hope this helps, I found nothing on Hitachis tech page concerning this issue.
