Half way through a print job, just stopped feeding paper.  No obstruction nothing.  I've taken out toner assembly, opened rear door, can't see anything unusual.  I did notice a few months ago that I couldn't run the paper tray till it was empty.  It always needed at least 20 or so pages in the tray pick up.

Yep, the printer warms up alright adn 'check things out' then it tries to pull in the paper and gives up. It's almost like the little rubber bit is no longer able to grip the paper but I can't fugure out how to crack the damn thing open and fix it.

I was having the same issue with premium paper. It wouldn't take it, but it did okay with paper of less quality because it was rougher. Here is my solution.

Unplug your printer and remove the paper feeder tray. Flip the printer on its side and underneath, you will see a rubber piece that feeds the paper through the machine. Wipe it down thoroughly with rubbing alcohol on a cotton disc or ball. You should get a bunch of brownish grime coming off on the little rubber dealy. Blow dry, plug in, and you're good to go. Just did big print job to test. Good luck!

Thanks efrankparr, that was helpful. I found that to get both sides of the pickup rubber roller clean I had to open the back door too.

You can unclip the holder with the rubber paper collector. I turned it to an unused part of the rubber band and added a thin layer of card under the rubber to give it more traction. Hope this helps

Samsung clp 300 starts to feed paper but stops feeding (jams?) midway

This is a common problem with both this and the Xerox phaser 6110 (a rebadged Samsung)
It is due to the pickup roller "tyre" that is the rubber roller that pulls the paper from the tray.
It gets shiny and slips on the paper.
The cure is to "rough up" the roller with some sand paper or emery cloth.
The best way is to remove the imager unit and store it in a cupboard or a box IN THE DARK.
This stops toner getting everywhere.
Remove the paper tray turn the printer on its side you will see the roller underneath, using some sand paper or similar carefully rough up the rubber roller all round.
now put the machine back together and try printing it should be ok, if the problem persists try repeating the process.

Samsung CLP-300 picking up too many pages

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. Paper jam is a very common problem with the printers.

First of all clean off the rubber piece that pulls the paper into the printer from the tray with rubbing alcohol, and also take a knife to the rubber piece to rough it up to create more traction.

To clear the paper jam problem you need to remove the back roller mechanism to get at paper. If still the problem persists, then check the following to resolve the issue--

1. Please check all interlocks, electrical and signal connections are seated properly.
2. Front cover, back cover and lid are closed properly.
3. Power plug and USB cable are connected.
4. Printer is turned on with switch on the back.
5. Toner signal lights sequenced, with yellow overall led on.
6. There is some noise of paper roller movement.
7. Toner signal lights all out, overall status light turned to red
8. No visible paper in paper tray or anywhere else.
9. No paper in tray---added paper
10. Waste toner container is full or not installed ---empty, installed properly.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Samsung CLP-300 paper feed

Clean the feed roller.
Remove the paper tray, from the bottom there is a grey rubber semi wheel in the middle front of where the paper tray would be. Use a cloth with WD-40, brake cleaner, or lighter fluid to lightly wipe the rubber clean. Put the paper tray back in and it should print.

Clp 300 won't feed paper

Remove the paper tray. Gently pull the sides apart at the front end of the tray, to release the spring-loaded ramp which pushes the leading edge of the paper upwards.

5549bad.jpg

Underneath this ramp are two compression springs approximately 1/2" in diameter and 2" long (above, left). The problem with the paper feed appears to be that these springs very quickly get fatigued and fail to exert enough pressure to push the tray upwards. Replace the long, thin springs with a more compact pair, with better compression, like one of the pairs on the right. I am still experimenting to find the ideal size, but this has definitely helped. Our local Ace Hardware store has a fairly good selection of compression springs. Home Depot had nothing remotely suitable.

You may find that an extra pair of hands and a pair of long-nosed pliers make the job easier when you are trying to keep the springs in position as you replace the ramp in the tray.

Samsung CLP-300 Paper Feed Problem

I had same problem and it got resolved by lifting the front portion of the paper tray up. I put a spare USB drive under the paper tray for sufficient push upwards. It seems to be working fine now for me.
