Oven takes a long time to heat up and wont go past 350

I have a GE electrical oven (model jsp50gn) and it is not heating up properly. It takes about an hour to get to 300-350 and will not go past 350. The boiler and stove top works fine. I tested the element, and it was a steady 22 ohms.

Any ideas? I want to fix this before thanksgiving!

SOURCE: electric oven too hot

difficult to see what you have done here! can you come back with some info: do you have an earth trip fitted in your consumer unit? how many wires are fitted to the element? did you touch any other wiring except those connected to the element?

SOURCE: OLD GE Wall Oven doesn't heat properly

On these older ovens ther is usually always 120 volts on the elements at all times.
If you check across the element ends with it in bake you should read 240V. If not, there is a problem with the control. With the voltage drop you describe, it sounds like you are losing power on one line of voltage coming to the element.
Post back to let me know what you find out or if you have any questions.

Oven not heating up properly

You could very well have an electrical problem. You may not be getting the full 220 volts needed to make the oven function correctly. Call a local appliance technician or electrician for service.
