Ok here are a few things to try
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) I would try disabling the windows logoff sound and see what happens since that is quite often one of the reasons logoff can take a while
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) But I also found this next solution which makes allot of since and could be very helpful to you since it will allow you to see exactly what windows get stuck on when you log off:
http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2008/06/18/how-to-troubleshoot-windows-startup-logoff-login-and-shutdown-problems/

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) This is what Microsoft has to say about it …

This behavior can occur if Internet Explorer is installed on the computer, and your user profile contains a large Temporary Internet Files folder (cache).

To work around this behavior, use any of the following methods:

Empty your Temporary Internet Files folder each time you quit Internet Explorer. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Internet, and then click the Advanced tab.
  3. Under Security, click the "Delete saved pages when browser closed" check box to select it, and then click OK. NOTE: This does not delete content in the Cookies, History, or Subscription folders.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) It could also be a network setting that is wrong could cause similar problem but then you would also have slow logon too
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This happens when too many application are opened at the same time, and closing them will take time because the PC's memory his full running different applications at the same time. To avoid this close other applications when your not using them.

My computer administer got deleted what do i do?

Here are two views on how to create computer administrators and administration rights

When you log in screen will appear that time just press CTRL+ALT+DEL three times login page will change put there administrator and press enter if any password you put during installation of xp put that password do log in and then go to user accounts which is in control panel from there change the user rights which you want to or

right click to my computer and go to manage and then users from there also you can set rights

Here we go just press this keys ctrl+Alt+Del it will bring you a new logging dialogue box. type the user name as administrator and leave the password blank.

press enter and there you go. that means you will log into your computer as local administrator. from there go to your control panel, click on user accounts, change my account type,

from the next stage choose administrator, click change account type

hope this helps

My computer keeps telling me that my files are corrupt but i still can log on to the internet, windows pop up on every screen log on to.EVERY FILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi yolandaskidm...
Sounds like you have a virus or maybe a trojan/worm/etc. on your computer.
Go to the following website, download, install and run Microsoft Safety Scanner.
After you have it installed the run the program, it may take quite a while to complete depending on how many files you have on your computer.
Once you have it installed you will run Microsoft Safety Scanner.
It will remove the virus/trojan/worm,etc from your machine for FREE.
If it does not get rid of the virus/trojan/worm/etc then a window will open and allow you to contact a Microsoft professional (FREE) and he will take over your machine (with your permission) and remove it for you for FREE.
Please take time to rate me

I have temporary password but i can not log in. Couple days ago i logged in but now i have problem

Hi,

What you can do is turn the computer off and then when you turn the computer on or as soon as you press the power button to turn the computer on start tapping the F8 key repeatedly until you get a black screen that says advance boot menu option .Then used the arrow keys on the keyboard, highlite the option that says safe mode and then hit enter, select the operating system and then when you get the log on screen select administrator .If it takes you to the desktop then go to start?control panel?user accounts11?select ur account and then click on the option that says delete password.Once it is done restart the computer it should take you to the desktop without you putting in the password.

You can also try this :
  1. Click Start and Run
  2. Type "Control Userpasswords2" and press enter.
  3. Uncheck the box for "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer."
  4. Click Apply and Ok.

all the best...

Can't Sign into Windows...How to do system reboot if I can't log in to windows?

Hi e_norris

Do you have either the Windows installation disk or a Recovery Disk. Some manufacturers ship the Recovery Disk with the PC others require you to create one when you first turn the computer on.
