Try to clean the ram first. Consult your manual on how to open the RAM.

When camera is switch on the menu shows but no picture/image

Your camera seems to have ccd chip problem. Image chips goes bad sometimes and when you play recorded image it is ok but when you want to turn on the camera to take picutures, you'll see scrambled image or no image at all. The remedy for this symptom requires a replacement of ccd chip. The average repair for ccd problem is $100-$130 in the repair market. -James

Monitor problem

I used to repair LCD monitor from Dell. It works for me. You might be using these following steps to examine what is the problem of your LCD monitor. After you turned PC on and monitor stopped working or went blank, you have to check that if you can see the image on the screen or not by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or any image (Start menu), there will be a minor problem. This is because of CCFL lamps inside screen. Some of them were broken and it is very easy to replace. You don't need to do anything with the inverter board in this case. If you cannot see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. Hope this help!! If anything I can help you with, feel free to let me know.
Thank you,

Canon eos 300d - image to dark

Try lithium batteries or rechargables in the 2500mah range,to me they seem to work best in a flash.
If you use alkalines, use a well known brand. But with alkalines,as they loose power it takes longer for the flash to recycle.
Also the monitor might need to be calibrated or adjusting brightness and contrast.
Mine sometimes does the same thing,I just use Photoshop to adjust it.
