In most cases it means that you have a bad cable or connection so it can't sync. I'd try replacing the cable...

My new hp officejet pro L7590 printer tells me that "no scan options" are available. I bought this as a all-in-one printer. help, I need to scan

Hi Kate,

This error occurs if HP drive services are not functioning properly, so try my solution

Solution

Follow these steps in the order presented to resolve the issue.

Step one: Verify that the Digital Imaging Monitor is ready

The Digital Imaging Monitor must be running in order for the Scan To function to work. The Digital Imaging Monitor icon normally appears in the system tray at the lower-right corner of the computer screen, and the monitor is ready when a check mark appears on the icon after Startup is complete.

If the Digital Imaging Monitor is in the system tray, proceed to Step two.

If the Digital Imaging Monitor does not appear in the system tray, follow these steps.
Windows 98, Me, and XP

1.Click Start , and then click Run .
2.In the Open text box, type msconfig .
3.Click OK .
4.In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
5.Search the list for HP Digital Imaging Monitor .
6.If HP Digital Imaging Monitor is not on the list, the driver was not correctly installed or a custom install was used. 7.Proceed to step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.
8.Select the HP Digital Imaging Monitor check box.
9.Click Apply , and then click Close .
10.Click Yes to restart.

Windows Vista

1.Click Start .
2.In the Start Search text box, type msconfig and press Enter .
3.On the User Account Control window, click Continue . The System Configuration Utility window displays.
4.Click the Startup tab.

Step two: Populate the destination list

1.The destination list must be populated in order for the Scan To function to work. Follow these steps to populate the destination list.
2.Open the HP Solution Center. Use one of the following methods to open the HP Solution Center.
3.On the Windows desktop, double-click the HP Solution Center icon.
4.On the taskbar, click Start , Programs , or All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
5.If more than one HP device is installed, click the tab for the All-in-One product. The HP Solution Center shows only the functions, settings, and support options that are appropriate for the selected HP product.
6.Click Settings .
7.Click Scan Settings and Preferences .
8.Click Scan to... Setup .
9.Click the Destination List tab.

NOTE: Depending on the computer performance, it can take several minutes for the Front Panel Destination List to populate after the printer or computer is turned on.

10.If the Front Panel Destination List is empty, continue with this procedure.
11.If the Front Panel Destination List contains valid scan destinations, proceed to step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.
12.Click each program to include on the Scan To list.
13.Click the Add arrow.
14.Click OK .
15.Scan a document using the Scan To button on the front panel.
16.If the scan fails, try to scan using the HP Solution Center Scan button.
17.If the scan still fails, proceed to Step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.

Step three: Uninstall and reinstall the software

1.Insert the software CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. The software installer should automatically start.
2.If the software installer does not automatically start, complete the following steps.
3.Click Start , and then click Run .
4.In the Open text box, type X:\setup , where X is the letter of the CD-ROM drive.
5.Click OK .
6.On the installer screen, click Uninstall . If there is no Uninstall option, the software installation is incomplete.
7.Insert the software CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. The software installer should automatically start.
8.If the model supports custom install, install HP Imaging Device Functions to scan from the printer. The recommended install will install this feature automatically. It must be manually selected during a custom install.
9.Follow the onscreen instructions until the printer software is completely installed.
10.After successful installation, scan a document.

Step four: Service the product

If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

Thanks

MATROX PARHELIA 128 Mb card. When I turn on my PC it says error with this card which has been on my system for ages. I still have the original software CD. The CD installation process is not clear. How do...

Hi,

A clean install is always better than an overwrite.

In Windows XP preferably in Safe Mode, to uninstall a device, you can try:
1. right click on My Computer, click on Properties, Hardware tab, Device Manager button, expand your Display Adapter, right click on the device such as your Matrox Parphelia, click on Uninstall;
2. open your Control Panel, click on Add or Remove Programs, highlight Matrox Parphelia, click on Change/Remove; and/or
3. Click on Start, click on Run, type "regedit", click on Edit, click on Find, type "Matrox", delete entry, press F3, do the same and delete all instances of Matrox.

To install, reboot your PC, insert Matrox driver/installer CD and follow on screen instructions. If it does not auto start, open/explore your CD and click on setup.exe.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
