I like to know how I can reformat my MX7118 notebook. Do I need a specific operating system disc in order to reinstall MS Windows XP? I don't recall receiving any CD-Rom disc at the time of purchase.

As far as I know, the original zd8000 operating system is Windows XP. If you have Windows 7 installed, then you need to get Windows 7 disc and its product key. If you need the Windows XP reinstallation media, then you can use HP Windows XP reinstallation disc only (for example: HP Windows XP Professional with SP2 disc).

Have you tried to download the drivers yourself from the internet by searching for them.

You need a windows Vista disc. Insert the disc and follow the prompts. I would format the hard drive instead of upgrading do a new install. The best way would be to go into your bios and make sure the boot device order has the cd-rom booting before the hard drive. Then put the disc in and start the computer, when it says press any key to boot from cd hit any key and let it load and then follow the prompts to install.

Hard disk needs to be reformatted--start machine and press correct key when "setup" appears in first dialog. Remove hard drive in first screen, then reinstall. Restart computer, should now say: "operating system not found". You need original Microsoft OS disk to reformat drive and reinstall ME. All previous information on hard disk will be lost with this procedure. Recovery disk is used with original OS before Ubuntu. If you don't have original MS disk, suggest going to XP.

You don't need to change or buy another hard drive, unless you want to install a larger size hard drive.
Boot up with the Windows CD and reinstall Windows.

I worlked for Microsoft and they always say it is not their fault. Try getting a driver from the HP website for the all in one.
I did support for Windows XP and there is not glitch.

ms office is not a builtin companion of xp or any windows os you should buy it as seperate, to reinstall you have get ms office installation CD
