I need help. Ineed to know what can be done about the play button of my cdn-88 as it doesnt react immediately upon pressing. I have to press it somtimes in the corner or realllllllly hard fr it to play.. Hence as a temporary solution i use the reloop button to play tracks. Does anyone know hwo to fix this? I need to sell this asap fr money and so need to fix it. Thanks
The problem is the play button itself. The controller has to be disassembled and the TAC switch needs to be replaced. Would not recommend you do it yourself unless you are good with a soldering iron. It is easy to damage the circuit board with excessive heat or if you are not very gentle removong the existing switch.

the laser may be dirty.
Use a can of compressed air if you have a can; otherwise, get a laser cleaner ($13 Radio Shack).
It is an "audio CD" with tiny brushes on it. Read the directions carefully, and have your speakers / headphones on.
No chemicals involved.
Hi, the main board will issue this (no disc) error code when the lens assembly is malfunctioning. this assembly incorporates the lens head and body and tracking rail. this rail has a motor and gear assembly that has to work in unison in order to track and read properly. the (no disc) error is signaling ga serious malfunctionwithin this assembly. it is not tracking. this will cause errors and the lens will not be able to scan for data to transfer to the main board for track display and info.
numark does all the repairs in house so, you will have to send this unit to numark for the lens assembly replacement. it has failed.
I don't have a technical manual for this unit, but I have worked on these before. They are fairly easy to dismantle, take care to apply even pressure when removing the jog wheel, use something like a butter knife (2 off) to slide under opposing sides of the wheel and gently prise up. Spare parts for this unit are available directly from Numark, however you can source them from elsewhere. you'll probably need to replace the transducer.
Have you tried downloading the most recent rom update for the CDN-90?
All you need to do is download it from here http://www.numark.com/contentmgr/showdetails.php/id/1493/tt/5 , then burn the download to disc. Once that's done, put the disc into the player, switch the player off and wait 10 seconds, then switch it back on again. the player will read the disc and flash the ROM. this should reset the player for you. Before you ask, you can out the disc into either side of the player. Full instructions are given with the download.
HERE YA GO!! GOOD OLD FASHIONED BEATING FIXED MINE... I PROMISE THIS. When you turn on your CDX... HIT THE SQUARE AREA where the play button and the cue buttons are located. It will jump to CDX on the screen and work fine. Mine did this and i messed around with bumping it and stuff and figured this out
