Recovery mode:
first, Create a blank file with filename "sansa.fmt", put the player to recovery mode this way = you have to enable the hold key then plug it to your computer while holding the record button. you may release it after you see 'welcome the recovery mode'.

Then drag-drop this file, the file will tell the device to format itself after you unplug it

Hope this help, if so please leave rating

create a blank file, use notepad and name it sansa.fmt, make sure that at the file type change it to all files, otherwise it will create a file named sansa.fmt.txt.....Once you create this file use it like I mentioned in the previous post.

Stucked at Refresh database

When the Sansa reads "refreshing database," what it is doing is going through all the songs you've loaded on to it, pulling out the "tag" information (Artist, Album, Song Title, Genre) so it can add this information to its own database which it uses to display the songs to you in its menus.

If it gets stuck during this process, usually it's because of a corrupt song file, or a song file in a format it doesn't understand.

Note that the e280 is only able to play MP3 and WMA audio formats. If you've loaded a different type of audio file onto your Sansa, you'll need to remove them.

If the songs you've recently loaded have all been MP3 and/or WMA, you may have loaded a corrupted file onto your Sansa. Try removing the songs you recently added, and see if the problem goes away.

"Refresh Database" never ends!

If you try to load too many songs onto the player initially, it may take up to an hour to get past Refresh database. Unfortunately, if you shut the player off while it is refreshing, it will more than likely ruin your player. Run the Sansa Recovery Tool or Update the Firmware on your Player as a workaround. Make sure the hold/lock switch isn't activated, just as a safeguard.

MP3 needs to refresh DataBase?

You have to many songs a sansa e 250 only holds a certain amount of space so your best bet is to buy a memory card or delete songs so you can add new ones.

Refresh database hang up and screen turn black

Go ahead and do this, in case the DB is corrupted:
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

Sansa e250 screen is stuck on refresh database

Press the "lock" button to where the Orange is showing. Then press the record button on the left side of the MP3 for a bit. Try this several times. I did it twice and it worked! M.P.

Screen remains on Refresh Database everytime I turn it on.

I've run into this also. a few options.. 1) Use the Sansa Updater software to upgrade firmware. (available on Sandisk website) 2) Sometimes adding a couple new songs back wakes it up.

Sansa e200 shows refresh database fail

Try emailing SanDisk technical support team at: [email protected] And ask them for the Recovery Mode firmware upgrade (Also send them the problem the way you posted it here). They should send you a link to some firmware upgrade file. You could also try calling them at: 1-866-726-3475 but an email should be sufficient because, from what I remember, it is just a link to file that you need to download. I hope that helps...
