Frequent wireless disconnection can be caused by different factors such as:

  1. Wireless interference within the network.
  2. Wireless settings of the Linksys router are still set to default.
  3. Firmware is corrupted.
If you are experiencing frequent disconnection from the wireless network, it helps if you check the following factors, all of which can greatly affect your wireless signals:
  • 2.4 GHz interference: Your router may be operating on the same frequency as your cordless telephone system (or even your neighbors’), or other nearby equipment. Try to change your router’s channel to 1 or 11 (the default channel is 6) and restart the wireless computers.

  • Placement of the router: Linksys suggests that you place your router as high off the ground as possible. When placing the router in a high location, leave a distance of two feet between the router antenna tips, ceiling, and wall. If your signal passes through multiple floors, place the router on the upper-most floor, and high up in the room.

  • Surroundings: Keep the router away from large metal objects, bodies of water (fish tanks, bathrooms), and any electrical equipment including television sets, microwaves, radios, etc.
Having default wireless settings on the Linksys router may cause conflict with other Linksys routers within your network range. Linksys suggests changing the SSID (network name) and the Wireless Channel of your router. Also, if it is possible, enable the Wireless Security of your router
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

I have linksys 54g v8 and i am haviing a issue connecting to second life

That may be a game issue. It's a on-line game, right? Does the computer lose a signal? Once the connection is out in the cyber world, anything could disconnect you. Have you tried the games support? I don't think it's your equipment. If your devices stay connected to internet, in general, then it would be second life.

Computer won't stay connected to internet

This may be due to:
1.line drop. check your provider and splitter
2.may be your router is getting heated up. make an arrangement to get some cool air while working
3. mis configuration in router setting. goto 192.168.1.1 in your browser, type admin as username and password. press enter and check the settings one by one.
This all will solve the problem

  1. check the line has internet service enable (telephone provider),
  2. check the microfilters on each telephone plugs
  3. check the dsl light stays always on. if not is a line/provider service problem.
  4. enter the router webpage.
  5. configure the user and password internet acess codes. (check the internet provider for your internet account)

I cannot stay connected to internet, my model 2701HG-B 2wire at&t dsl will start flashing red then disconnect me from the internet or my game site, how can i get this to stay fluently connected please!

You might want to try disconnecting everything EXCEPT the power cord. If you still get the red power light (it should stay there forever) then bring the gateway to Radio Shack or somewhere they have a 5 volt DC @ 2 amp power supply and plug it in for 5 to 10 minutes and see if the power light then stays green. If it stays green then all you need is a new power supply! If not, then the gateway is fried. Mine keeps going from a solid green power light to a flashing green power light and I can hear a relay click every 2 minutes at which time a pop-up say "ethernet line disconnected". I tried new power supply etc. to no avail! It is fried after 1.5 years! No more 2wire for me!

3 problem with the power adaptor of the modem
4 check with ISP of connectivity issues
5 last.... there could be virus / trojen in ur machine

Intermittently lose internet connection with my Westell 7500 DSL Router. Power, E4 Port, Wireless and DSL LEDs stay on but the internet LED goes out. Verizon has replaced the router but the problem...

hi,

I used to work for verizon for two years as level 3 support, here is the thing,if verizon already replaced the modem, that means that its not really the modem, its the connection, thats what we call intermittent route, here is what you are going to do,contact verizon, have them run an intermittent connection line test, tell them that internet connection is not consistent, they will create an active ticket for you,it will be forwarded to the central office and the central office will run a different test, thats what we call a test assist...they will be able to verify if the problem is the line form the central office going to your house...

thanks and God Bless

Can't stay connected to the internet with my laptop, but dekstop(which is directly connected to the router) has internet

I'd try calling verizon on the issue first and have them test your line. If that comes back clean, then you need to look at any extra equipment you may have at your house (alarm systems, etc.) that could throw disruption on your line. Also make sure you have filters on your phones!

Hope this helps!

Switching DSL Modems

Your dsl line stays the same. you're only changing your dsl equipment.

if you are not able to go online using the 327w, you might need to have it configured depending on the type of connection that you have. if you are using PPPoE (which means you enter a username and password on the modem to connect to verizon) you need your 327w configured for pppoe. but if you are using DHCP connection, any modem or routers should be plug and play.

Most verizon customers from the west coast uses DHCP while those on the east coast uses PPPoE.

You can call tech support to make sure which type of connection you are using.
