I'm in the process of replacing the Braun 8000 Series Activator Motor Drive Unit in my shaver. The Motor Drive Unit is all one piece, cost $33.99 at disassemble remove the plastic cover on the bottom that covers the cord socket. Be careful, there are a total of two tabs on the short sides and four very small tabs on the long sides. I used my fingernail to create a space big enough to insert the corner on a credit card in the center of a long side and gently removed the cover. Using a screwdriver could damage the plastic. The two sides then pop off. There are a total of four screws holding the body together. Remove the screws, the shaver splits into. Remove the Motor Drive Unit and replace with new unit. There is also a circuit board with the batteries below the Motor Drive Unit. Assembly is the reverse of above.

I have had a Braun 8985 electric shaver for 4 years now. I have recently replaced the cutter block and foil but I am still having a problem with the shaver. It is not unusual for me to have to make 3 or...

The symptoms you describe indicate that the 'drive unit' is the problem. This part includes the swivel frame that the foils and cutters fit onto as well as the motor. Sometimes a piece of the plastic oscillator inside will break. The vibration causes the loud noise and it can not oscillate properly because of the break.
You will find the part needed at See link below for this part and scroll down the screen for helpful installation video

My braun shaver does not run although the battery is good.

You can buy the motor drive unit here: but it needs to be calibrated to the circuit board according to everything I have read. Unfortunately, I do not know the procedure for the calibration.

Just replaced motor assembly now always shows liquid in cleaning station empty even with new cartrige

The motor assembly and the fluid level indicators are completely independent components and any coincidence between the timing of the problem with the cleaning base and your repair of the motor unit is likely pure coincidence. More likely, the cleaning base is at fault and will need replaced.

The on/off slider is stuck on won't slide to off position

The trimmer/switch is broken. You will need to replace it. You will find the components that you require at See link below

To replace the part you will need to remove the 'cap' that surrounds the cord hole on the bottom of the shaver by gently prying it off with a small flat screwdriver or similar object. Once removed, the side grips will easily pull off revealing 4 screws. Remove screws to seperate the front and back case. The inner parts simply lift out and you can put them into the new case

Cannot switch from '1' to '2' to '3'

The problem is that the switch assembly is broken. You will need to replace it. It comes with the whole outer case of the shaver and is available at See link below.

Yo replace it, you will need to first remove the 'cap' on the bottom of the shaver. This is a piece of plastic that surround the hole on the bottom of the shaver where the cord plugs in. Gently pry it off with a small flat screwdriver or similar object. Once removed, the side grips will simply pull off revealing 4 screws on the back. Remove screws to remove the back cover. Then list out the internal components.
Reassemble in reverse order
