Question about Maytag MER5775Q Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Proper Oven Temp

I have a model MER5755QAW. I had a baker element blow ( I mean really blow!) and replaced it. After I replaced I still had a problem with the oven heating, the baker element was not coming on. I tested the replacement element and it is fine. So I thought it maybe the oven sensor; replaced it and still not working. Any suggestions??

You need to make sure you have voltage coming out of your control board. 120v out of the bake relay. (usually yellow wire) and check wiring in the back of the stove. But first reset the breaker.

Model no. 790.97433800. Why does it trip breaker and shuts off after heating to correct temp?

Hi Patricia
Hey... the breaker has saved your life!
There can be a number of reasons for this type of fault.
The one that comes to mind for me is...
The element itself is "inside a metal sheath" which is grounded to the Earth connector in your AC Mains Box.
With heating and cooling many times an element can melt or burn through to the outside sheath. This causes a short circuit to earth which blows the circuit breaker. Thats why we ground appliances to earth.... for safety. Otherwise the whole body of the appliance would go live and give you ashock when you touch it and say "the sink" or "floor".
Generally it's pretty simply to turn off the power then lift the element up and pull it out of it's socket.
Take it to the appliance dealer and get a replacement.

Good luck

Have Maytag MER5755QAW range, the oven will not heat up, the display was working isn't now, i check both elements and temp sensor, all ok

The display control will need to be replaced. It may be cheaper to replace the unit since the control is so expensive. Here is a link to the part you need.
Keep me posted!

The oven will pre heat to set temp, then when it reaches temp the oven beeps and both oven elements turn off. At this point the control panel (clock LED) shows an F2 error.

Good afternoon.
F2 for hotpoint means oven temp sensor thinks oven exceeded 650 degrees .Did that happen?
Probably not so have your sensor checked or replaced. It should be a probe device in oven back wall.

Top burner over heated and burned our food then E2 F3 fault showed up on keypad. Burns the outside of the food but does not cook the inside. The oven was on bake not broil. Model GY396LXPS00

Hi.

E2 F3 means Oven temperature is too high (Cook mode).

The first part to be tested is the temp sensor. The sensor is located inside oven cavity and it is tested using a multimeter set on Ohms to read impedance at sensor contacts. At room temperature, sensor resistance should be 1K to 1.1K. If not, replace the sensor. If the sensor checks okay, check for a short to in element wiring (element stays always on). If element and sensor are OK replace the control.

Regards.

Where would I look to get replacement broiler element for an electric Magic Chef Chateau over and under oven model 251v-2cw. It's in great shape other than just blowing this element.

Is the model number listed 251v-2CW that of the Oven or the part # of the element? That number is not showing up as either as a proper model #. Can you double check the Oven's Model # and list the Serial Number as well?

The broiler or baker won't ignite when I turn on oven

if it is all electric then you probably have bad heating coil elements.
If it is a gas then you probably have a bad electric igniter, unless it is an older model with a pilot flame, then you have a bad thermocouple.

Oven wont heat to temp its displaying no codes,

Generally speaking, if an electric oven isn't reaching the correct temperature it's usually the element or the thermostat to blame. This tips should help you diagnose what's causing the problem:

If the bake element isn't heating at all or if when it's turned on it starts tripping breakers and blowing fuses than it's probably the element that needs to be replaced. Here's our guide to how to replace a fan oven element:

If the element is heating but the oven temperature isn't accurate for where it should be than it could be the thermostat. You can test these hypothesis out with certainity by testing the continuity of both the element & the thermostat.

You should also visually ***** to make sure that there isn't any loose wiring in your cooker.

Obviously before playing around with the cooker make sure that it's unplugged and drained of residual electricy.

My Maytag Electric Range oven part will not heat over 200* ......

Unplug the range.
Open the oven door.
Remove the racks.
Remove the 2 screws holding the bake element to the rear wall of the range.
Carefully pull the element from the access holes in the rear wall.
Remove the wires from the element.
With your meter set for continuity, put one lead on each element end.
If you get a reading it is good.

If it is good. Replace the wires and reinstall the element.

Pull the range out from the wall.
Remove the rear panels.
Plug the range back in.
Set your meter for 220volts or more.
Careful now because you are working with live voltage.
Set the oven for bake.
Put a lead on each element terminal to check voltage.
If you have 220 volts at the element, unplug the range and unplug the temperature sensor.
Set your meter for ohms.
Check the 2 leads on the temp sensor.
If at room temp the sensor is 1050 - 1100 it is OK. If not replace it.
If the temp sensor checks out OK, replace the ERC

Oven won't reach proper temperature and hold

If the element glows its ok , if you have replaced the sensor with a new one it can only be the control board. in some cases you can adjust the temp. through the control , it should list directions to do so in the manual. Good luck
