Mamiya 645 Super mirror locked in open position

Hi,
I have a Mamiya 645 Super with a mirror that locked open whilst taking a picture, and it wont return. The 645 has a switch to actually lock the mirror up but this was not on at the time. Does anyone have any technical know how about fixing this? I would like to give it a go myself.
Thanks and regards
Michael

My mirror somehow got stuck open too, I removed the power winder and grasped the pins in the middle of the silver wheel underneath used to wind the camera. Turn this clockwise until it stops and shutter is completely closed. Test fire camera after. If it doesn't work make sure you wound it all the way.

Make sure you have a resh battery in the camera. The shutter is powered and witha weak battery there may no be enough power to complete the mirror cycle. Also if that camera (i cant remember that on in particular) has an M90 setting turn the shutter dial to the M90 to reset everything.

Why is my camera taking picture in reverse through the viewfinder?

This sounds like a mechanical problem inside the camera. If it has a flip-up mirror behind the lens, for example, the mirror may be stuck in the up position. Have it serviced by a qualified technician.

Just got a 645= shutter "release jammed:, I put in new battery and also missing the crank arm, must have had a motor handle before. its like new, meter in prism works new battery, have old 645 J to...

if the shutter is jammed just off the device, and slightly pull the shutter door with your hand 3-4 times.apply a drop of oil on both the sides.and then on the device.and check it will work.
and for the replacement off the handle you will have to check on the old device that where are locks in the back you just have to remove that locks, also check for the hidden screws in the centre or back of the handle.which may be blocking it to be removed easily.

thanks.

Every other picture I take ,I get a horizontal black band like the mirror is not moving all the way out of the way ,ne shot after that it ail be ok again so I have to shoot everything twice.

Set the camera to bulb, take off the lens, and check that the shutter is opening every time, the mirror is going fully up, and the auto focus sub-mirror (under the main mirror) is also going all the way up. Check the shutter for damaged/bulged/out of position blades.

Those are the usual causes of this problem.

I have a Nikon d50, had it since 2006, I took a picture, heard a weird noise, and now the viewfinder is dark as if I have a lens cap on (I don't!) I took off the lens and saw inside the body of the...

Inside the camera is a mirror which reflects the scene up to the viewfinder. It flips out of the way when you press the shutter button. When the mirror flips up, the shutter opens and exposes the sensor. When you look inside, if the mirror is stuck in an up position, you will not see anything in the viewfinder. However, the mirror is super delicate....do not touch its surface or try to force it.

No fault of the camera it's has been programed in custom function #9 for mirror lock up. In mirror kock up mode first click of the shutter button locks up the mirror the second takes the shot and lowers the mirror. Mirror lock up is most often used while tripod mounted for extreme close ups or macro photography and also where a large telephoto lens is used. Mirror lock up is for reducing camera vibration during exposure. You can go into your custom function menu scroll to #9 and turn this off and all will return to normal.

I'm trying to take a picture with my Canon super shot SD790 and the screen says my card is locked. How do I unlock my card?

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Canon Rebel XT Does NOT Take Pictures (AF & Exposure seem OK)

I have the SAME problem. I wrote to Canon and they told me to shut off the camera, take the battery out and wait 20 MINUTES! I can't WAIT that long, especially when I'm WORKING! I rely on this camera to work! Its annoying! Then they said if that doesn't work, to SEND IT IN and if its under warranty, they'll fix it for free.. if its NOT, then I have to pay for it. BUt the "technical team" will make the decision.

How many pics can you take with a digital camera? After 1200-1500 pictures my C2500L says funny then using the autofocus. It's still working fine, but I'm a bit worried about it. And what about...

Take a look at this discussion of shutter lifepsan. http://www.dphoto.us/forum/archive/index.php/t- 4531.html To summarize these posts, average number of cycles (one instance of open and close shutter) is somewhere between 50,000 and 150,000 cylcles. As one poster pointed out, we seem to take more pictures with digital than with film cameras, so a hundred thousand cylces might not be that many. I have a c2500L bought used at online auction and have probably taken about 1500 pics so far. Don't know how much previous owner used it. It's amazing how many pictures you take when you don't need to spend money on film and processing! The c2500L is a really nice camera and I hope that mine lasts many years. My c2500L is an early one with version 1.0 firmware (later models have version 1.20 sticker on side) and was built in about 1999 I think. As for autofocus, mine works great as long as I have the focus mode (regular, macro, super macro) and zoom level set correctly for my distance to subject. Fortunately, the green focus indicator lamp near viewfinder flashes when focus isn't right. A few other thoughts on focus: taking picture through glass, in mirror, or scene with no contrast (like a solid grey sky) might require you to use the manual focus or focus lock modes. Window glass fools camera, which tries to focus on glass instead of your desired subject. For mirror, you need to double the normal focus distance (measure distance from camera to mirror, focus on something twice as far, then lock focus and take your pic in mirror). With SLR film camera, mirrors and glass don't cause trouble because you are focusing manually. One other note on fuzzy or dark corners on pictures: if you use filters, especially a thick filter like a polarizer, you should probably get a 43mm to 46mm adapter and use bigger filter. At widest angle zoom, my polarizer causes vignetting in corners because the filter actually is "seen" by lens in corner of pics. Oops, I should have thought of that before buying filters I guess. Hope this helps some.
