Question about Philips Magnavox MWR20V6 DVD Recorder/VCR

1 Answer

Magnavox MWC24T5A When the power is turned on, The relay in This unit would click and something near the HV would make a rapid clicking sound, and then immediately power off. With the case open, I tried to isolate where the clicking sound was coming from. After turning the unit on about 50 times, the 4.7 capacitor blew smoke into the air. What would be clicking and cause the cap to blow? Thanks

Turning it on repeatedly probably took the cap in the shutdown circuit. As for the underlying problem I would suspect the HOT 2sc2578 p/n# 4835 130 48252... And/or possibly a diode short to ground. Might test D1643, D1605 (rectifier diode) or D2575.. After that, mybe regulator or Q1601 2sk3563, Q1602 2sc2120 in the smps.

There is a rapid clicking noise from my peugeot 307 when I turn the key. What could it be.

In my opinion its relay that is located near fuse box situated insied glove box (open glove compartment and look far right side of it and you can see a plastic housing. Just turn plastic screw lock 90 degree and you can see the fuse box. Check which relay is making this rapid clicking.

Philips Magnavox 32MT3305 keeps shutting off with relay clicking. The green power light stays on but the picture and sound go out right after the orange status bar goes away. If the channel up or down...

the relay is the safety protective device..sometimes a defective component or something. maybe an overloaded power supply might caused this before any thing could gets worst..the relay will shut the unit..

When powered on, hear a click and it shuts off power internally. removed chassis, click seems to be coming from direction of HV transformer, but not sure. Also, the power source (TV power cord to wall...

This "clicking'; sounds like at HV transformer is shorting out. The sound is made when the ***35-50,000 volts*** jumps across the short. If you are not a tech, I suggest you stop trying it before you cause a fire. Take it to a shop or replace it.

If you are a tech, replacing the HV section or parts of it can be iffy. There is so much that can go wrong, it is bettter in most cases to replace the board, or the whole set. If you're still not dettered, the HV flyback almost always takes the HV output section with it when it fails. If it still works, but clicks, then maybe you can replace just the FB... it's 12 - 15 solder connections and couple of additional wires. Careful of the big red one, with the cup!!! the hole that the cup goes in can retain ***15,000 or more volts****, even after it's been powered off and unplugged for weeks!!!

I have a Dometic Duo-therm 1500 AC Model 59516.633C1 on my 5th wh

The clicking sound is usually the relays in the control unit making or releasing. When they click does anything turn on? Check the control unit that is located inside the lower unit of the air conditioner. Remove the cover and listen for the clicking sound. If it sounds as if the relays are clicking, try removing power from the thermostat and see if that stops it. There are three relays on the board, one is the compressor, one is the fan relay and the other is for heat. See if you can pinpoint which one is clicking and go from there. It is either that you have a bad thermostat or a bad relay board.

Loud electrical sounds

It sounds like the Power transistor that drives the High Voltage Transformer shorted out. The rapid clicking sound you are hearing when pressing the power button now is that of the power supply starting to come up, detecting a short circuit and shutting back off again, preventing further damage. It is likely that the HV Transformer is shorted as well which usually causes the Output transistor to fail. Since the set is only 2 1/2 years old, it is probably worthwhile getting it to a repair shop as long as you have been very satisfied with the picture quality up to this point. If the picture size was larger than you needed, you might consider going down to a 37" LCD HDTV set. Toshiba is tops in this category IMHO.

TV Turned off, now there is a clicking noise when plugged in.

had a 51" GE rear projection donated to myself. While off and power button pressed there was a clicking noise from the front of the unit. Rear cover was removed and it could be observed that the hv splitter had a crack in the casing and the power was arcing out of the splitter. I purchased a $72 dollar hv splitter, i read that the $20-$30 dollar one would break within a year, and the unit powered up no problems.
