Perhaps the surge strip has blown a fuse. Try plugging directly into a wall socket, bypassing the surge strip. If it lights up, then you know you have to get a new surge strip. In any event, it is most likely a fuse that's either in the surge strip itself or in the rear of your Philips receiver, near where the AC plugs into the chassis. All electrical appliances and devices have a fuse. Find it and take a look and see if you can ascertain if the nicad wire is broken inside.
Do you need a new pairing of surround. select the pairing menu at the home, turn on the surround and press the button that is below the s-air cartridge. A red light will light the rear surround and make a new pairing.
Hi, I have the same system and had the same problem with the drive door refusing to open when you press the open button. I fixed it quite easily, unplug every thing, on the rear of the unit, remove the two screws holding the top rear cover on. This will reveal two plastic securing clips for the front top cover, release these and the top cover will slide off easily. You will find that there are two bent over hook wires, where the button is and if you look at the under side of the top cover, you will see two metal contact strips that are suppose to touch these wires. All i did was bend the wires out a little so that they made better contact with the sensor strips. Put it all back together again and hey, it worked right away. Good luck, Richard
Look on your manual, page E16. Go into your speaker setup. Select your speakers (Front,C,Surround, Sub) and make sure each are selected as "small" (make sure you go through each one). If the surrounds are selected as "none" the rear will not activate and will light up as red on the display. Let me know if this helps.
well for one thing .. on cable it has to be in surround sound.5.1 or 6.1 for it to true surround.your dvd and cd will be fine .. if you just want to have sound coming out of all speakers you have to adjust your sound settings but it will not be surround sound though
