Question about Sony Network Walkman NW-A1200 MP3 Player

2 Answers

Database??? Okay. Plugged it in to charge it, and the sonicstage software said that it was updating the device's database. It then showed an error message stating that it can't use intelligent features because the database isn't updated (which, again, it had just finished trying to do). If I just unplug the player, it seems to be working fine until a message appears stating that there is no database. If I try to choose any option from the main menu... it simply tells me that there are no songs on the mp3 player (though there are over 800 on there... Or, rather, were, before I tried the resetting method.). So, I tried resetting it. To no avail. Still the same, just with no songs, now. Help, please!

Re: Database???

Hi, I had the same problem and fixed it by initialising the disk of the walkman (under Settings - Initiaize disk) in combination with the installation of the newest Sonic stage software (that takes a lot of time!). This will remove all songs on the walkman, but the problem was fixed.

Hi there I have a sony NWS203FS walkman when clicking into the icon i get Error Code: 00004e2e How do I fix it?? Thanks

This seems to be an error message when the database of the SonicStage Software has been changed. I suggest you to backup all the Songs in the Player and update the Software. Make sure that the SonicStage Backup Tool is used for creating a backup disc. Then, uninstall the SonicStage Software and install the latest version of the SonicStage Software(ver 4.3). Before installing the Software install the SonicStage Security update and then the SonicStage Software version 4.3 for Windows Vista.
After installing the Software the issue will get resolved.

Showing no database

Have you connected the player to your PC in Sonic Stage to see if anything is loaded on to it? Once initialized, the hard drive is empty. Transfer just one track and it should try to rebuild the database.
format the hard disc, it''s an option within the menu
Once you have done that, remove all the songs from Sonicstage CP. Get rid of EVERYTHING. Reimport all the songs to Sonicstage again and try to sync the NWA unit.

Device/database error

there must be some discs or software that you need to install and after a format and getting the software to synch it that should resolve it - am guessing they have made there own software that should format it correctly for you.

Once you have downloaded the latest version, run the "Update" function in the Device Manager, and it will upgrade your player's firmware. It will solve most DB corruption issues.
