This means that the hand control has lost communication with the electronics board within the base of the telescope. The
number following this message will indicate the address of the
component that has lost communication. 16 indicates the azimuth or RA
motor board, 17 the altitude (declination) motor board. Unfortunately,
this number doesn't tell why the error has occurred.
clear the no response messages, repeatedly press UNDO. This fix may be
only temporary and does not address the potential underlying problem.
Send it back along with the hand controller describing the problem. Could be several things including a bad hand controller. If there is a local astronomy shop nearby take the scope there and ask to try one of the hand controllers in the shop and test it. If it now works you just need to buy another hand controller.
Be sure that the Azimuth Axis is Lock, you migth want to try and move the telescope in the Azimuth to make sure it is it is locked. Be carful not to force it. I have seen on some post where the locking part of the Azimuth somtimes breaks. and the Azimuth Axis will just spin freely Locked down or not.
I also have the same problem. I bought a 500gb WD HDD and it worked great via USB for about 4 days, not the computer does not have it. i am running windows xp home. i can also hear the drive working and the blue light comes on, but it is delayed. When it was working correctly it came on instantly and the computer found it instantly.
Its normal, and is the signal showing the drive powering/spinning up and down. The drive spins at 7200 rpms, when you power it up or down, its switches onto the speed that best suits what it's intended to do.
