If the red light is the protect LED, the amp probably has shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible causes, read through the following page:

Two redlights on my amp? The battery died on my car, and after jump starting, I'm not sure if my amp is working. Two red lights are on, but I think one of the lights used to be green. All speakers are...

If there is a red light displayed, for this particular amp, then that means the overload circuit has been activated. This is caused by excessive output current. What may have happened is that the passive crossover components have been damaged. If you know how to use a soldering iron, you may be able to visually see the damaged components on the crossover circuit board and repair them. Another possibility is either a speaker cable is exposed and touching the vehicle chassis, or a voice coil has been damaged. The most likely problem is a damaged voice coil, as that would still play music but would require more power to reach the same audio output. Smell the area around each speaker magnet for a burned scent, which would indicate a damaged voice coil. If there is no scent, visually inspect each speaker for damage. If there is nothing visible and you do not smell any burned scent, and you are sure the speaker leads are not exposed and touching the vehicle chassis, then there is probably nothing wrong.

Kicker 250.2 amp, I have green power led, but the red led on top of the unit does not come on, nor does the red protection led, hear a click out of the subs on occation but nothing else, looked inside and...

Sometimes clicking, or popping sounds from subs are caused by over excursion of the subwoofer, wich can be caused by ultra low frequency, or going below the tuned frequency of your enclosure.

Rockford Fosgate Punch 301X not runing

You should verify some other way (with a multimeter or another amp/device) that your 12V is working at the amp. Then to troubleshoot the Remote wire, take a short lead of scrap wire and run it from the 12V power input of the amp over to the Remote input like a jumper. If the amp still doesn't power up, then look for and check the fuse on the amp. If there's good power at the amp, the remote input has good power, and the amp doesn't turn on, and the fuse isn't blown, then the amp is probably toast. Good luck!

Mtx thunder 1500 watt amp no sound

Even if there is no visible damage, it could be that one of the transistors is blown, Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the transistors.

First disconect the subs and try probably one of the sub is damaged or if the problem continue, then disconect the RCAs from the main unit and try probably one of the Rca is damaged if the problem continue then you have a problem with the internal outputs from tha amplifier, you need to take it to a repair shop to get it fix, good luck.

6 channel power 1000watts earthquake amps red is on

This is normally a grounding problem in the amplifer. If you have a volt meter, check the voltage at the ground of the RCA input on the amplifier. If that voltage is anything more than just a few millivolts then you have a problem in the pre-amp of the amplifier. You should also only connect or disconnect the RCA jacks while the system is off. Otherwise you can get a loud popping noise that can damage the amp or the speakers. Check that voltage on the amplifer RCA jacks with the head unit not connected to the amp with the RCA cables, then if that is OK, check the RCA cables coming from the head unit. You may even have a voltage on those RCA's coming from the head unit, in which case, you have a problem in the head unit. You will be looking for a DC voltage, if you have anything more than just a few millivolts (0.070 +/- DC volts) on either of those then you have found the cause. After that, it will require a technician to be able to troubleshoot the amp or the head unit to determain why you have that DC voltage where it should not be.

Let me know if I can be any more help,

Dave

WHEN I HOOK UP THE AMP

Check your speaker connections and the try to power the unit on again. I fear that you may have damaged the power amplifier MOSFETs on the output stage. This is what this sounds like. I would first try to see if audio is going into the unit by using an oscilloscope and taking a reading at the input of the amplifier. If audio is preset I would take the unit to a shop since there are no user serviceable parts inside of this device. Look for a shop that will give you a free estimate. I do feel that you have internal damage to that device.

Mine is actually a q4000 4 channel amp

First of all, you MUST HOOK UP YOUR GROUND WIRE FIRST. You may have damaged it if you hooked your power and trigger wire first and then the ground wire. Unhook EVERYTHING except the hot wire, ground wire and trigger wire. If you still can't get the unit to come on then it is time for a trip to the repair shop. Good luck.
