Same problem. Did the test of the picos and one of them was opened. Ordered parts. Plan to have someone with electronics component soldering do the IC/pico remove/install. The chassis that the 3 PWBs are attached to wasn't that difficult to remove from the TV. Recommend that you take pictures prior to pulling connectors to help with re-install. The center PWB comes off the chassis with about 6 screws. The center PWB has about 5 connectors to the other 2 PWBs that come up with some gentle wiggling. Once the center PWB is removed, you just have to remove the heat sink that the 2 ICs back up to. Now you're ready to remove the two ICs. All you need is patience, a digital camera, and a screwdriver to do what I did. Good luck.

Check pico fuses F9A04 and F9A05 if either one of those picos are open it means the convergence Ics are bad along with the picos. Your set uses two STK392-570 ICs and the two picos are both 5amp picos. You can get replacement parts and installation instructions at the following link.

I stumbled across a tutorial on fixing the convergence for my Sony KP-46WT510 a while ago, and now I can't find it again! Does anyone know where I can find that tutorial or one similar to it? We've been...

Here is a walk through on how to set your convergence.

A quick and easy way to try and let the TV realign the convergence try this...

1) Turn on the TV and tune to a channel and let it warm up for about a half an hour to let everything settle into its normal operating mode.

2) Press the Flash Focus button on the original TV remote. A cross pattern will show on the screen and the process is complete when the cross turns white and the TV returns to the program you were watching.

3) Do not press any other buttons until this process has completed.

If this does not adjust it enough you can adjust the convergence manually as follows:

1) Press the menu button on the original TV remote.

2) Use the arrow keys on the remote to highlight setup and press + button to select.

3) Use arrow keys to select convergence and press + button to select.

4) A pattern of white crosses appears, with a yellow [ ] around one of the
crosses. Aligned crosses (which do not need adjustment) look white and
have little or no red or blue showing. Crosses that are not aligned show
red or blue shades beyond their edges.

5) Use the arrow keys to move the [ ] to a cross that is not aligned. ***Note: start with crosses in the middle and work outward ****
*** TIP: Set the alignment while about 5 feet from TV for better results ****

6) Press the + button to select the cross and the [ ] will turn red indicating it is ready to adjust the Red convergence.

7) Use the arrow keys to move the red cross on top of the white one or at least as close as you can get it.

8) Once the Red is aligned press the + key again and the [ ] will turn blue. This indicates it is now ready to adjust the blue convergence.

9) Use the arrow keys to move the blue cross on top of the white one or at least as close as you can get it.

10) Once you have aligned the blue cross press the + button again and the [ ] should turn yellow.

11) Repeat steps 5 through 10 until all the crosses are aligned. To exit back to regular programming press the menu button on the remote.

Adjust the convergence or reset it to factory default. Use only the remote when adjusting convergence. The front controls have no effect.
  1. Press action button to enter MENU.
  2. Navigate to SETUP.
  3. Scroll down to CONVERGE.
  4. Press VOL > to select.
  5. Press CH buttons to navigate up or down.
  6. Choose CONVERGENCE ADJ or RESET TO DEFAULT.
  7. Press VOL > to select.
  8. If CONVERGENCE ADJ is selected the align Green to Center screen will be displayed.
  9. Use the navigation buttons on the remote control to align the horizontal and vertical green lines on screen, with the cabinet reference marks on top center and left
    center of cabinet.
  10. Press ACTION button to display red center correction screen.
  11. Use the navigation buttons on the remote control to align the red cross with the white cross pattern at the center of the screen. To prevent picture tube damage do not leave test pattern on for an extended period of time.
  12. Press “0” on the remote control keypad to display the BLUE center correction screen, repeat procedure for adjusting blue. If needed press “0” again to return to RED correction screen. An adjusted cross pattern appears white with a minimum of color protrusion.
NINE POINT CONVERGENCE CORRECTION
Remote Control must be in TV mode.
  1. Press ACTION button to display red correction screen.
  2. Press the 1 through 9 keypad buttons on the remote control to select the desired convergence position.

Picture is OK, but colors are off and there is a blue star background that shows on dark colors.

Hello, With most rear projections there is usually an alignment to do with the set up with your TV. This is so the red, blue and green projectors align together to give the correct colouring. This sounds to me what may be causing the outlining of the blue. This can also make it seem off colour. Look in the set up menu of the tv and see if you can find this alignment feature. Usually a cross will appear and you move a blue, red, and green cross with the arrows on your remote to align over the original white one. If this does not work, it may also mean that one of your projectors, that is the red, blue or green one may be failing causing the off colouring. Hopefully this alignment may fix it for you.

My sony grand wega gives a blue shade on the black background which is the problem

HI, Check the menu set up of the TV. There should be an alignment feature that aligns the blue, red, and green colour projectors. If the blue is out of alignment that is likely why you can see it on the dark backgrounds. The set up normally puts a white cross on the screen and you select each of these colours and then move the cross over the white on with the arrows on your remote. Once all are aligned correctly you shouldn't be able to distinguish between different colours and hopefully this should get rid of your blue shade.

I have a 56" toshiba dlp. It has a red have throughout the screen. sometimes worse then others. Is it the bulb? color wheel? Is it something I can fix? Where do i get the parts.

This sounds like the alignment of the red beam is off. There is usually a configuration tool in the menu that shows a white cross in the center of your TV against a black backgound (if it's aligned properly). It's a combination of the red, blue and green light bars hitting the screen. You should be able to adjust the positions of these crosshairs for each of the colors and "fine tune" your picture. Some of the higher end TV's even do a grid with over 100 crosshairs to fine tune every few inches or so. Once you get the red beam in line with the others and save the settings you should be good to go!

I have the mitsubishi 55711,i have a double image

This is a V-21 Chassis common, with these symptoms, for failure of the convergence amps. This set uses two STK 392-110 Sanyo amps mounted on a heat sink and hard to miss. They're a 40 pin ic about the size of a half pack of cigarettes.
It has also been my experience that two or more of the yoke return resistors need to be replaced, most commonly R8c21 and R8c22, both are 3.9 ohm 1w but test all of them for reliability.
Hope this helps!

Covergence out of alignment on 1/4 Vertical left side of screen

You need to manually adjust the alignment:
On remote, press Menu to get to the main menu
Then arrow down to "ADVANCED FEATURES"
Then press "enter"
Then Arrow down to "CONVERGENCE" and press "enter"
"Red Convergence" should be highlighted
Press "enter"
You now have Green, Red, and Blue overlapping crosses.
If Red is out of whack, use arrows to align
To toggle to blue (and back to red), press "VIDEO"
Then align blue cross
Once the crosses look aligned, and nice and white, press "AUDIO"
This will bring up the Advanced Convergence screen
This is a grid of the same overlapping colors
You have control over the Red and Blue
If Green is very out of whack, you'll need a repairman…
While the "target" is flashing, you can move it around the screen with the arrows
Place it over an intersection to adjust, then press "enter"
Now the "target" is steady (not flashing), and you can use the arrows move your color
When it's aligned, press "enter" again
Now "target is flashing, and you can go to the next square.
You cannot adjust every intersection.
Some areas need to be adjusted via the adjacent intersection
When you're happy with color you're working on,
Press "video" while target is flashing to change to the other color
Repeat the above (blue is much harder to see and adjust for me…)
When you're happy with the entire grid, start hitting "Menu"
Each press brings you back out one menu level, until you are out of them
Once you're used to the process, it should take no more than a minute or two.
